K im ready to bump it up a bit,should I just start bt raising the fsb?Do i need a voltage mod as well?

start with the fsb by 5.. then test.. if it does good.. go up another 5... go up 5 until you you need to clear cmos... then with that go to where you where, and at some volts to the northbridge...

i would burn your rig in @ stock for a month or two then start to OC

Hava at it NONYA...My thinking on Voltage is this... set what you feel is comfy as a voltage....say +150 on the Blood Iron...then just max the CPU at that voltage.

If temps are good...try more voltage....but continue as Coldstorm suggests...by 5's

turn off the PSU wait for the amber light to turn off at the bottom....then switch to the other pins yes...only takes a second.

It's red and right by the FDD port on my DFI board.

There is one sticking out the backplate on your PC as well....its easier to use, due to the location above the battery and behing the graphics card. I use the one in back with an extended jumper. But its the one above the battery for CMOs.

@ Hat...not even close in proximity, but correct in color!....The Blood Iron has a totaly different layout than usual DFI's

K do i up the CPU clock or the boot up clock?

the CPU clock...there are 2 ways to use the bootup clock....set it at 250/auto and leave it. Havent really seen any difference in either application.

Make sure to set the correct divider as well. That way you can test individually instead of maxing the system and not knowing what is causing the issues.

K got up to 225 and the cp speed started to drop,turned off ect and moved the jumper over and back,BUT the CPUZ says its at
1196.2 mhz

fsb 199

the bios is set back to 200 but the cpu speed is down,it was 1.6

speed step...is the multi at 6 when you are reading this? Open CPU-z and run the fuzzy cube in ATITool...I bet the clocks go up again!

Also what divider are you running?....I suggest the 200/200 divider before you clock.

not an issue the multi will move to an 8 when loading an app....i run 3.5 24/7 with speedstep active. It wont hurt the OC.


Actually i booted to 4.0GHz with it on...still booted!

yes that way your ram is out of the clocking issues as it will boot 1:1 with the FSB....meaning a 200FSB will give you DDR 400. creating headroom to OC the CPU without stressing the memory as it will be underclocked when you start this way!

just with speed step enabled when you boot you need to stress it to see if it (the OC) is stable!

K,sometimes when i rebot it skips the page where you can press delete to get into bios,any idea why?Would it hurt anything to disable the speed step?

you are saying you dont get a big red bios screen saying BLOOD IRON...I think you just missed it.

I say just tap Delete repeatedly when the system starts to revive, as to not miss the opportunity!

No I get the BI screen,but i usually get one that says hit f1 to continue OR delete to enter bios

Never seen it myself...unless you are speaking of the boot log style...show ram and latency and such.

Its a setting in the bios that switches it back....but the red splash screen is just the alternative option of that screen. Hit delete when the Red screen loads.

My system never really connects to the monitor till right before the screen ends... I do get the logo when i restart it, but thats it....
