Was there also a 230-250-ish RX 7600 on the shelf next to it, just to drive home how much of a bargain that 16-series was?

Solar Bay is a mobile focused benchmark adapted for the PC. Not exactly the same kind of workload as an AAA game.

Yes and I brought that up before. But if any eventual game offers a "lite" RT load, it's feasible on said cards. Moreover, you're able to develop RT software on them. Not so much the case for RDNA. It was more of a big deal at the time that hardware that supported RT was expensive (and pretty much vendor exclusive, since only Turing did it). Nowadays it doesn't really matter.

- Would you be open to sacrificing the capability to run Ray Tracing on mid and low-end(under U$500) GPUs in exchange for either a 30% boost in performance or a 30% reduction in price, while maintaining the same level of performance as the current lineup?
Hell no! IMO Turning off a few other high compute effects is preferable to to turning off RTX. AA(of any type) is completely unneeded these days.

I dont even know if my GTX1060 3GB have RT, and i also dont care about it.
I also dont care about FreeSynch or G-Synch.

I bought that 1060 around 4 months ago. The last dedicated card before that was an AMD 7850 2GB

I can live without RT.

Your GPU supports everything listed by you but RT support is very limited and you can't reasonably play RT games on your GPU. It's too slow for that.

True but RT is better than raster. It's just way more expensive hardware-wise.

They do not. Only the RTX Geforce models have RT.
GTX 1000 and 1600 series support limited software RT. Back in 2020, when Cyberpunk just launched, it was possible to enable RT on such GPUs (yet it was nonsensical as even the 1080 Ti wasn't doing better than a dozen FPS).

While that is true, the performance is so lackluster that it's not worth discussion. On a GTX 1060 3GB, forget about it. Not going to be playable on any level.

Exactly. Not worth it.. Even the lowest end RTX2060 would be preferable.

I'm not even sure if Nvidia enabled RT on it, to be fair. I think it's only 1060 6 GB and up for Pascal, or 1660 and up for non-RT Turing.

Edit: Yep.
