Hi everyone!

My stepdad's laptop just bit the dust, and he's probably the most non-tech-savvy person in the world.
Which is why I am doing the research and shopping from the other side of the globe for him.

Budget: ~$250 with a possibility of a stretch to $300. Payment via PayPal.

What I'm looking for (min. req.):
- 15.6" 1366x768
- 3rd gen. Core i3, or equivalent AMD APU
- 4GB RAM
- 320-500GB HDD
- DVD-RW is a must [!]
- 802.11n and working Ethernet port
- Clean [!!!] At least no dust bunnies, beerstainosauruses and potato-chip-mites.

Basically he will use it to record and mix music, play some older games (he likes the Total War series, so nothing heavier than Shogun 2 or Napoleon:TW).

Virgin heatware under silentbogo

Thx.

Check out refurbd Dells at Amazon too...I've seen a lotta good deals in recent months. Also if you can pay a bit more the Dell Outlet sells refurbs with 1 yr warranties. Just food for thought. That's how I purchased my Dell 3540 over 2 years ago.

Thx, guys.
I think I found a potential candidate @ newegg: an i5-5200U-powered 15" laptop for $303 + free shipping.
Just in case I'm going to leave the thread open and wait a day or two before purchasing it. Maybe there's still someone who wants to get rid of their aging Dell XPS/ASUS ROG laptop
