maybe its the mobo
because the mobo cant recognise it (windows applications)
whereas cpu-z and other applications can recognise it
if it was a cpu problem, no application would be able to recognise what type of cpu it was

uh no..the bioses are all different lol
and some peoples boards are shipped with diff bioses on them
im willing to bet that the boards with the earlier bioses got screwed when the bios wasnt updated before the cpu was put in (as per intels instructions on the web)

The BIOSes are all different? For the same board, the BIOS files are the same. Obviously boards are shipped with different BIOSes on them, but the latest releases are all the same...
