So you have installed DX, reinstalled DX, Installed Cat 10.4, sweeped and reinstalled Cat 10.4, Tested for stability, and confirmed that all games work fine using a single card. Also, I assume that your system on a whole has been tested stable. Have you tried the hotfix drivers?

yes, each card can run codmw2 fine, no flickering. But once the CF is enabled it flickers. Bringing up steam interface really helps to bring out the flickering effect. Its like a wave of dimming light which flickers subtly.

I know alot of people say "play with one card". Well no, I want my CF to work in codmw2, no ifs or buts.

Good idea. Im not your most tech wise guy but this is what ive done.

Disabled AI in CC which fixes it because it disables crossfire, so thats pointless.
Vsync does not help.
updated video cards to 10.4
Tried messing around with ingame settings for codmw2 to 59hz- 65hz etc.
Switching the video cards themselves.

I can't think of any other things I have done, but I have done the usual ( I know that doesnt help saying that )

Please do throw Ideas at me :)

with that list you covered all the main ones (and proved you did your research too) - if the flickering is only present with the steam overlay, disable it... otherwise, try various drivers/crossfire profiles and see if you get anywhere.

I'm ditching crossfire (this week, in fact) since my flickering (the Vsync one) cant be solved.

No the flickering is ever present, but I can make it out easier if i bring up steam because its a grey dull background. If in codmw2 i go up to a wall i can make out the flickering easier.

Tried drivers and download profile stuff. Sorry to hear about your CFx :S

I hope its not a problem based my side as then I would be upset. If its a issue on Codmw2 side and can be fixed with a patch in the future I would be very happy knowing I havnt wasted my cash.

i feel its a codmw2 issue as its the only game to get upset with my CF. ( besides dirt2 which does have texture problems and BFBC2 does sometimes do funny with certain texture but that not to bad )

right, sounds like you got the same Vsync problem as me... Vsync only lessens it, not removes it.

Do you get it in other programs/apps as well?

Vsync does noting for me but reduce my fps to 30.

Like said, I only have this problem on codmw2.

At times I think my screen flickers on the desktop but I think thats just me wanting to see something.

there you go.

I tried downloading new chipsets for my asus mobo, Version 9.1.1.1014, apprently its installed but i DONT know how to tell if it is installed on my PC. I can check if my video cards are up up date with GPU-Z but I dont know any programs on PC which can tell me if they installed correcntly. If they have then it hasnt fixed my flickering.

bingo.

You're on HDMI, and running BC2 in DX10. your other games are DX9.

You're suffering the same bug i get, the non v-sync one. When you run DX10 games on HDMI, the games see 60Hz interlaced (30Hz real) as higher than 59.97Hz progressive, thus dropping you to a shit refresh rate that looks poop.

Change to DVI, and you'll be flicker free.

I am a tech "noob" i dont even know what a DVI, it sounds like an infection. So you will literally have to hold my hand through this process.

Also, about dx10 / 11 can i just say that REMEBER its ONLY codmw2 that flickers, and not far cry 2 or crysis or BFBC2, and fc2 and crysis are dx10 aint they? I dont know.

So can you give me step by step on what i have to do to sort this, am a little skeptic if this will work but hey lets give it a bash:)

So if i change to DVI instead of HDMI will I lose my crossfire? will i need quality? will certain game not run? Can you explain please :S

Also am sure ive mucked around with DVI in CCC panel and had no luck.

the cable you used to plug you monitor to your video card. You used HDMI. use the other one (usually white, and larger)

wait... MW2? damnit, my sleep deprived brain thought bad company 2 (which is DX10) - MW2 is DX9, and shoots my theory down.

DVI is just another monitor cable. no quality loss or change, but since i fecked up the game in question, it may not help at all.

Out of curiosity did you reinstall the game?

tbh i would rather not reinstall my codmw2 as i dont want to lose my rank ive worked on and also reinstalling it via steam would take hours, i have very slow internet here.

So through process of elimation do you feel that my issue is a codmw2 problem and its NOT my drivers or my hardware that is failing. If it is my hardware i will have to refend my card, but am running out of days.

its a conflict between the game and crossfire, yes.

Its likely fixable, through a driver update.

Well thats two people who think its that, so thats nice to know.

So can you confirm to me right now you had the same issues, being;

Ingame flickering on call of duty modern warfare 2. It a subtle flicker but bringing up steam interface helps to idenifty it because steam has a greyish background. Also going up to walls in codmw2 would also highlight the flickering problem. HOWEVER this issue of flickering is NOT present on other games like BFBC2, crysis and far cry 2... Can you confirm that?

i just had some severe slowdowns, mostly related to the infrared scopes. made the game unplayable if i had a weapon with that.

I get flickering in EVERYTHING if vsync is off, but it goes away with it on
