New guy, I've been a member longer than Ketxxx and you. Secondly when the orginal Xbox was released the modified G force 3 was the fasted GPU in existence. I suggest you do your research.

Fastest on paper is different than actual applications. I guess I was wrong, and my apologies, you're not new. The PS2 had a modified card as well, all consoles do.e else.

I accept your apologies:)

But, it was a well known fact that Nvida's Geforce 3 chipset was the fastest graphics accelerator of 2001, Microsoft saw an opportunity and made sure Nvida produced a replica chip set to rival Sony graphically.

I'll try and get a few links of reference later.

Perhaps, but thats where only the future will tell. But for now, specification for specification, and from developers own testimony, there is only one winner currently. We can only judge the evidence we have now this second.

Ravenas, I found some information gathered on the G-force 3 from Wikipedia proving it as the fastest card of that year.

The GeForce3 enjoyed undisputed performance supremacy throughout its lifetime. Unlike most NVIDIA graphics products, the GeForce3 was always aimed at the high-end and upper-midrange gaming performance market, and at no time was there a cheap, entry-level version of it—nor was there any need for one, as the numerous GeForce 2 variants were well placed to serve in the mass-market role. Even the Ti200 (which was released relatively late in the chip's life) was priced squarely at the upper end of the mid-range, and had performance to match.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce3

I found another article stating that the Geforce3 core was indeed in the original Xbox.

GeForce 3, as we've said before, shares the same core design as Nvidia's Xbox graphics chip. It's also closely tied into DirectX 8 - asking which came first is a bit of a 'chicken and egg' question, it seems - so already it has a lot of support in the games development world,

http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cach...+xbox+nvidia+geforce&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=uk

surely this is enough evidence to show you and xfire that Xbox was indeed more powerful that PS2 - Remember I'm somewhat impartial as I never owned either console, and all I prove is facts backed up with evidence in the form of reviews and articles.

simple reason for it is data wont fit on a dvd and if they did it would look ugly and it would take forever if the 360 had to extract compressed files from a dvd like the pc version does when u install it

PC version of Crysis didn't sell to well. It doesn't make for an attractive offer when gamers are forced to upgrade their systems just to play it at 40 FPS. So they are porting it to other consoles to get extra sales revenue.

With EA publishing it? Hell no. I was expecting this, I hate EA so much always giving consoles good PC games, Orange Box shouldnt have been on consoles they dont deserve its awsomeness.

if this is true then i look forward to it. and why do people always compare the ps3's hardware to that of a pc? the hardware in a ps3 is utilized completey different than the hardware in a PC.

its kind of frustrating though how the good PC games end up on console and the good console games stay on console :(

Console has been pushing gamers away from PC for many years now and it makes me sad :(
even local department stores here are slowly fazing out selling PC games to make more room for console games.

that is the way the market (for the most part) is pushing. the hardcore gaming community probably accounts for a very small percentage of pc game sales. and most people dont want to spend a ton of money on a pc to play games. consoles are friendlier and you dont have to deal with microsoft windows. face it, people dont like to spend a lot of money. but if you would like to see games for the PC continue then maybe you should ask the hardware manufacturers to lower their prices so we can actually afford to play games like crysis at a high resolution/textures above 40 fps

I played the demo of crysis, graphics impressed me for about an hour and on my X1950Pro @ 1280*1024 I could set all details to high and get around 30FPS. That said, after the inital hour the pretty factor wore off and it offered very little new over farcry, and I found the gameplay to be somewhat trite and very dull.

I agree with you 100%. The demo level seems like an amazing looking version of FarCry. They really shouldn't have used the first level as the demo, because it is kinda dull as you said. About 1/4 of the way into the game, though, it is just absolutely amazing. From the level where they drop you off from the plane into combat with artillery shells flying every where (level after Prophet gets abducted) to the end of the game is absolutely amazing. However, the first few levels are kinda boring and just seem like a fancy FarCry.

lol, You mean Custom power PC based. Which means it pwns:rockout::rockout:lol,jk. Consoles aren't that bad, they have tons of games coming out. PC has some good title, but are a bit to focused on hardware. IMO like i said before, Crysis is just a unoptimized tech demo. ;)

To put it into perspective, I originally played Crysis on a single core A64 @ 2.4Gghz with 1GB RAM, and an X800 card. I had everything at minimum settings @ 800x600. Guess what? It was still the most amazing looking game I'd ever seen and it looked better than any game graphically on either console (except for COD4).

LOL, have a great sense of humour

hmmmn PS3 fanboys lol stubborn people
any fanboy is just another name for those that arnt open minded or stubborn

dosnt xbox 360 have the better gpu and ps3 the better cpu?
i dunno it dosnt matter because ps3 is harder to code for so i guess if crysis was hard to code then this will be coding nightmare

I think its about the end product tho if the games good who gives a fuck
but i prefere my pc and 360 i like having games like mass effect on my console and having RTS and COD4 on my pc

I have to agree with him on the 1950 pro, I had that same card, and just got rid of it when i got my 3870. I could not play on high, infact most were medium and I still only got 18-24 FPS
