In what way are you better than the trolling imbeciles posting unconstructive negative reviews just to hurt the game?

Hurting the game? I think theyve done that pretty successfully themselves without any help at all. I just call it like i see it. I just wish you could see it too... and when i say 'see it' I dont mean blind faith.

Did you watch the video i linked? The game is just nasty. I would rather stick to the ARMA II or III mod. There just seems so much more to it.

I just requested a refund on Steam for the fuck of it.

If you bought it within the last two weeks and played less than 2hrs then you'll definitely get your refund.

I think 2001's Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis was about as good as BI ever got. Same dated trashy engine in use today in Arma 3.

If i remember correctly... didnt a lot of devs who worked on Operation Flashpoint end up joining Bethesda and make ARMA ?? I got really into ARMA II but i didnt have the same kind of draw or attraction to the game as i did with ARMA III.

Last major thing i heard with DayZ was that Bethesda was trying to port the game over to a new engine and whoever spoke about it at the time (could of been one of their PR people or a dev working on the game) seemed pretty excited about the whole thing. This was maybe a year or two ago?? I dont know if the change has been implemented yet. But that was the current excuse at the time when people were whining about when the game would be released. Basically it sounded like they had to tear down the entire game and rebuild it from scratch in the new engine.

SInce the game has been officially released now. Bethesda could still come out and say they are done with working on it and abandon it. It depends if they still think its worth the effort financially.

If they still wish to sell copies of the game then it has to be better than the ARMA mod otherwise there's no real point to carrying on.

I bet they still made money off it though. I know a hell of a lot of people who jumped on the pre-order bandwagon as soon as the early access was announced.

There is nothing stopped Bethesda turning around say the game is finished despite it clearly being not.

Operation Flashpoint became ARMA 1: Cold War Crisis when the Arma series re-released it. It was a great game for its time, I played it quite a bit, but playing Arma 2 or Arma 3, it doesn't feel much different from the 2001 game, same old physics bugs. The Resistance expansion was really good, but very difficult. The graphics were so terrible for its time compared to contemporary games.

Also, I think @FreedomEclipse means Bohemia, not Bethesda. Bohemia made Flashpoint and it was published by Codemasters, Flashpoint is just the first in the series. I think the ARMA series was Bohemia self-published.
Right after I installed Arma 2 / Day Z mod I drove one of the large trucks. It immediately flipped over, shot up 50 feet in the air and landed on its roof. Same bullshit bugs from Flashpoint.

Also don't forget this

LOL

Arma 3 graphics look pretty good, I'll give it that.

You are aware that five-ish years is about normal development time for a game of this scale, yes?
Or what is the problem here?

Yeah the game is buggy. It has just been released, what do you expect? What isn't bugged? Battlefield 4 wasn't bugged piece of shit when it came out? The only difference is that people didn't have three to five years to bitch and moan about the development because it wasn't public.

Oh wait, nevermind.

Development probably started well before 5 years mind you. Id probably estimate around a 2-3years before they made it early alpha. My argument is, Its theyve had possibly more than 5years to work on it but the bugs and the glitches are still there to the point where I think Bohemia are pulling a fallout 76... "it just works"

so more than 5 years work for a release that is still very very buggy and glitchy. calling it a release is an insult as it should be in early alpha or at least a beta. There has been very little progress made as far as i can see and am aware of.

I played the mod for years. I also spent quite a bit of time playing the early alpha and watching other people play it on YT, so its not as if I havent been keeping up with progress on the game. Even if i cant be arsed to look at dev logs because from what ive been told by a some members of the community is a whole lot of nothing. they might of reported a few changes but just tweaks to small things that dont really matter. I remember there being a report about tweaking an animation for an action that people will rarely see or use.... small and silly things that mean almost nothing when there are bigger bugs/glitches at hand.

I know stuff about the game. I just dont have to prove myself to you that i do :cool:

With BF4 it was a different story. It was a 3year development cycle but you could say that part of the game was already made since BF3 provided a bit of a template and EA rushed DICE to release the game to please investors and also beat Activision's Call Of Duty to the crunch.

While BF4 was buggy, glitchy and a bit of a mess. it was still released with a fair amount of polish with a few things that needed to be tweaked. With DayZ, the entire game needs to be tweaked which is the point im trying to make.

Bohemia have had a lot of time to work on this game but it looks bad. They also had the base game of ARMA to work off and it still took them 5years from early alpha to v1.0 to release something that is bad.

But alright if you think i know nothing about the game then suit yourself....

Going back to my previous comment about blind faith.

Love is blind i guess.:rolleyes:

Odds are Day Z is never going to be any more than it is now, the only early access game that ever had a real turn around was No Man's Buy.

I thought I couldn't be disappointed again by DayZ. I really didn't. I figured I was over it. I played the beta... it disappointed me. There's literally no difference between the last release and this one, where it really matters. It's still an alpha product. Not even close to ready to for beta. (And I'm a certified professional software quality assurance engineer, so don't give me that "you don't know about development" crap..) So to call this the beta is just insulting to those of us that have been patiently waiting. I realize that 5 years is a decent turnaround. I know that. That's the not the point. I'd wait another 5 years for a polished DayZ. But calling this the beta, the 1.0 release, is a signal. They're basically saying "the game is feature complete, it just needs fine tuning." Essentially: "This is almost as good as it's going to get."

The saddest part is, the ONE thing that this game really needs to get it off the ground, is the ONE thing that the game is about.... Zombies. You hardly ever see zombies. And when you do see Zombies they aren't a threat. They can barely hit you, and when they do they don't do any damage. And worse, you can barely hit them because of the weird animations and lag. The game is literally about a zombie apocalypse, and the zombies are utterly inconsequential to the game. They might as well not even be there.

Give me the game, as it is today... exactly as it is except change one thing: the zombies. Give us hordes of zombies. Make them manageable in small doses and absolutely deadly in large groups. Make their attack animations fluid, make them hit where they look like they should, and make it so that when the player hits or shoots them, it actually does what you expect it to do.

That's it. That's literally all the game needs. Everything else is icing on the cake, sure. But this one thing is the single most important thing to this game, and they've seemingly ignored it. The zombies are horrible in this zombie game.

I have been saying the exact samething for 5 years. They never bothered to fix the zombies which IS the game. That indicates to me that their code was broken from the beginning. SAD!

wasnt there originally a difficulty setting??

maybe that was just in the mod

I know it might sound funny but maybe there was like a line of code in the game that prevented the zombies from being deadly?:laugh:

I haven't delved into the modding yet, but hopefully it's a modular as the Arma series. If that's the case, modders will eventually write new AI and fix the mess that BI has made of it. If there's a good enough base there, it will eventually be done. I can only hope. I'm just mad at BI at this point. I've been a supporter and defender of theirs for years, since the mod and I bought the standalone the day it was available. "Don't worry, it will eventually be awesome" I said. The beta moniker on this release says otherwise. I hate to have to put my faith in modders yet again... but here we are. They'll do a better job, I imagine.

There isn't a difficulty setting. Server-side settings can be adjusted, sure. But just upping their damage to make them deadlier is not a solution. Their AI is junk, their animations are rubbish, and you never know if you've even hit them or not.

Just a quickie. Does anyone else get tiny little stutters playing DayZ? When I drop from like 120-100 I'll fee a stutter sometimes, is that normal? Also feels very choppy in places even though it's high FPS.

Have patience in your other thread.

It sounds like a Gsync issue not working correctly. If it's specific to DayZ, it sounds even more like drivers. If it's not just DayZ, like I said, stick with the other thread.

I feel a little sad I never really played it despite buying it way back in 2014.
I kept waiting and waiting until they make it at least to beta, and then gradually lost interest. Also had noone to play with.
