wtf is the point of that? might as well get an air cooler lol. The whole point of water cooling is to take the heat away from the area and cool it elsewhere.

both the corsair aiw and the swiftec solutions do this while combining the cpu cooler and pump in one. Those units make sense to me as you're still movign the heat away from the primary components and in most cases (dual meaning) directly venting it out of the case.

slapping it all together directly on top the of the cpu doesn't seem like it would preform any better than a moderate air cooler, better air coolers would beat it.

While I agree that small, self contained, over the CPU WC units (be they rad/fan or vapor chambers) aren't even as good as decent air coolers, I also feel the type of kit shown above at a whopping $270 is a bit pointless when you can get loop kits with rad and res for less than half that. It may not have a triple rad, but it would get the job done plenty well and better than any air cooler or sealed WC unit.

For the most part there's far too much elitism in piece together WC units, even in kit form. When you consider they offer none of the convenience of the sealed units, and only avoid having to pick appropriate parts out, most are over-priced.

The fact is you're better off learning about piecing together a loop anyway if you want to go non sealed, because God knows you're going to have to maintain it down the road, be it kit or not. Anything that has mere vinyl tubing and isn't sealed requires maintenance.

Again I would like to state that I am not doing water cooling right now as I see it as unnecessary and that I was only curious if a product like the apogee existed.
