What no one has mentioned is the added graphical effects namely God Rays. If they are setup the same as Fallout 4 and being added via gameworks that would mean DX11 code path has been added. Can't say for certain right now.

interesting theory... imagine if they slam us with a DX12/vulcan engine.

both of which are possible,

Fallout 4 is 64bit and uses DX11 natively, Its the same game engine the difference is Bethesda reupped on its license getting access to DX11 + multi threading etc. This cuts down on game engine development and removed some bottlenecks in Fallout 4. For Skyrim to run efficiently even with new additions console version will need an API upgrade. So i expect DX11 slapped on. Which wont make the game amazing but should help improve performance all around. 64bit may also be required for stability as such again both may be possible. Time will tell.

DX11 64 bit actually seems likely, since that's what fallout 4 uses.

So yeah more i dig into it and look at the video it seems to be the Fallout 4 engine hopefully someone at bethesda will confirm it. But if it is the case. Skyrim should become much much more stable especially with Ugrid mods etc.

if they can tweak the combat and UI a bit, with smoother/better/more stable graphics, they may actually have a good remaster happening.

Fallout 4 is still using a tweaked Creation. I think what you mean to say is they're adding the shaders and optimizations from Fallout 4 to Skyrim. Which I'd be inclined to agree with, and it'll make it a lot more modder friendly. At this point I'm starting to feel like modders will need to make TES 6.

I'm not sure I want it. Is it automatic? I've already got it modded fully the way I want it. I don't need anything screwing it up.

Hopefully it's like some other games' definitive editions have been, where you actually have to click to download and install.

EDIT: According to PC Gamer, it appears Todd says PC gamers will be "eligible". I'm going to interpret this for the time being to mean it won't be forced on me.

I have 255 mods running perfectly stable. I'm using ENB not for the graphics, but just to run the graphical mods (that are not in that 255) so that game engine "acts" like it is 64 bit and runs smoothly (it forces the graphics tectures to load only into the VRAM, instead of both RAM & VRAM, as the Skyrim engine likes to do.

Anyway, I'm loathe to give that up, and glad this will be optional!

oohhhh so i think alike ... me and my 255 mods want to sit in peace and not get a auto "upgrade" that could possibly botch my current "stable" installation on my main rig

The trailer for the Special Edition. No there doesn't seem to be added achievements, mainly improved textures, improved shaders, mod support for consoles etc..

ahhh annnd a "special" edition that will add nothing worth my attention (at last nothing that you can already have, and what we have is already better than what they .... plan ) tho the console mod support is nice ... (albeit it will be ... not large as the PC modding possibility, i reckon)

I'd be willing to bet there will be newer mods based on the update shaders, especially for the water alone. No amount of water modding I did really fixed the shitty looking water.

I need some he;p with my skyrim, whenever im inside say a buidling or cave, i experience alot of fluctuating clock speeds and idk know if this is the cause for my issue but im experincing something like low fps but it reads 60 fps.

Could try disabling vsync and enable a frame limiter see if the issue dissappears. (will cause tearing tho)

I actually quit playing this when I had to reformat and lost my save and mod data.. I couldn't stand the idea of redoing all the tweaks I had done to make the game actually look good. Vanilla Skyrim looks like crap..lol

To put it simply... you are not a PC gamer if you do not play skyrim with mods... and a lot of them...

Yea I was gonna do a lossless 4k 60fps video of my copy then remembered that I broke it so I scrapped that idea.

limit your FPS to 59 with something like AMD's FPS cap, or rivatuner stat server (comes with afterburner)
