ext. hard drive not accepting ISO image s

Just got a transcend external hard drive
But each time i try to store a file in ISO in it tells me
there is no space left.the hard drive is in FAT

if any file is over 4gb in FAT/FAT32 it cannot be stored on to the device, u need to use NTFS.

SO How big is this ISO file is it Just to Store or is it for loading by Virtual drive

Yes you have to format it to NTFS

u don't have to u can use a program like EASEUS or Acronis...

As i Said ""are these ISO files for Storage or for loading in / with a virtual drive""

If it is just Storage then you can either go to a NTFS Partition and file Structure or you can store them by running a compression program such as winzip splitting the stored file into 2 parts.
each less than 4 gig
How ever if you intend to use the ISO file with a Virtual Drive then you have to store it on a NTFS partition

never use ntfs at external storage.
use exFAT. it was developed for this thing.

Once can simply use command line to convert from FAT to NTFS too. Which I prefer on external HDD's, but for external USB flash I would use exFAT as MakCuMyC suggested.

Simply open command line, knowing which drives are which, so for example if D: was my USB HDD, then I would type:

Convert D: /fs:ntfs

Edit: I should mention this method does not require formatting your drive. Enjoy. :toast:

exFAT was designed for flash storage. NTFS is perfectly fine for external storage on windows machines.

its the only option on windows machines the native format utility won't let you format a platter drive as extfat
