All motherboards have a setting to tell it where the video card is. Before it was PCI or AGP, now it's PCIe or PCI.

I just wouldn't have flashed a GT with a PRO BIOS in the first place heh. I didn't catch that was what you were doing, or I wouldn't warned you.

About 700mh is tops at monitor refresh rates of 60:ohwell: I can get to 720mh with some very mild artifacts in 3dmark at 75 ref it wouldn't go over 650mh:wtf:
Even with my defualt mem timings and speed[600mh] I can't get it stable. The prob could have something to due with the odd refresh issue my card has.
I'm not using my flashdrive because I just put a linux distro on it:)

Is refresh rates really going to effect ocbility? What is difference between 60hz and 75hz? Any effects on gaming xperiences?

It shouldn't, my cards just a sh*tway:laugh: I've never had this prob before with any card and I seem to be the only one having it with the x1950pros :( . I was hoping the optimized bios would help but it's not playing nice with my card. It's easy enough for you to test but it's most likely just my junk card and yours should be fine.
Hey Formula, how do you change the mem size in rabit? It's always[except with my x1900gt bios] grayed out on the mem page with 2.2. I want to test some of the other bios that ketts modded. Do I need a beta or is it just something I'm missing.
Yes I know it's MHZ, it's a force of habit thing so most likely I'll keep using mh. I really not even know I'm typing it:)

I tried 1.4 256 bios, and I got the most distorted screen I've ever seen. Had to blind reload original bios to get things back to normal. My Pro doesn't OC well...but I'm still chalking some of that up to Vista, crap Catalyst 7 series (Vista Compatable) drivers. Oh well, card works great...gonna go back to playing Supreme Commander.

I found a link to a report of leaked 7.3 beta Catalyst drivers. The link downloads from an Asustek site, and it's slow as hell. I'm currently d/l-ing at 9Kbs....OUCH! The driver download is a whopping 121Mb! I'm guessing some of that is CCC for sure, but still! I'll give it a shot and report back to see if this may help my OC issues, or even load at all!

Mehu...I can't even get to 621 using ATI Tool! 614 and that's it! If i push to 621 (goes in 7mhz increments only...even if you manually adjust 1 or 2 mhz at a time!) my R300 driver stopped working message comes up and stock speeds are reset. I didn't read back too far for your posts but what are you getting from memory with no heatsinks on them? Even with a 12cm fan blowing on the card, it would be a good idea to get some sinks on the memory. Maybe you already do and have covered that.

Weird how your original bios won't even work...just the rialto...that is odd indeed.

i think i but big alu heatsink but i dont have heat tape only glue and it cant remove. i think they
can handle without heatsink(or hope so) 783mhz and after that comes artifakt, with rialto i can
go 621(core) original i got only 600. riva tuner allows raise core about 660. but if i try play or do marks it crashes.
OFFTOPIC what means RMA?

Well having tough luck on the 7.3 beta driver front...noone I have found has posted another download location as of yet...and the ASUS link times out after I get about 20% into the download. I'll keep trying...

On a good note..I found my issue with OC-ing my card, at least to an extent. I noticed that when using ATI Tool's Fuzzy Cube during OC (whether it be the 3D or the Artifact Scanner) kept crashing my Driver R300 (stopped responding and reset message) when I attempted to OC past 614/749. So I decided to try a different 3D test...in this case, good ol' Aquamark. So I tried 621/749...no problems, issues, crashing. I was curious to see what I could get...and on stock bios (well stock settings with fan @ 100% over 39C) I was able to achieve: 634.50 GPU and 776.25 MEMORY! That is great considering my bad luck as of late. I have been running many Aquamark tests to verify. If I go any higher than those settings, then even in the 3D test I'll get that famed R300 Driver message. I'm gonna get 3D Mark 05 and 06 installed, and run one of them in loop while I'm doing laundry and helping my dad replace some parts in his car.

So maybe my issue has to do with the way ATI Tools tests 3D with Vista and 7.2 drivers? I dunno. Card still runs cool...it'll hit up to 53C, but won't stay there. But now I cannot verify prolonged tests with ATI Tool's 3d cube since it will cause that driver crash and reset my speeds. So hell with it, if I can get consistent stability at these speeds, that'll be a major step up for me. And maybe this will help others who've been having the same issue!!

RMA is returning a failed piece of purchased equipment to the manufacturer (retailer in some occasions now-a-days). Then they verify the issue or failure, and replace it under their warranty/circumstances/payment preferences. That is how I understand RMA, and have only had to do it once ever, which was recently on some bunk Buffalo Firestix that burned up.

Can anyonw with experience help me mod my 1900gt bios? I tried using overclocking tools but dident like it much. I want to hold off on buying a dx10 card since it will use up like all y money and I have no income + I want to buy some new sunglasses, HD and have some $$ left over for job hunting :p

I use CCC and I like it maybe if someone could just up the volts in my bios I can use it to overclock my card to 650core or somthing.

I'm sticking to the Fan mod bios you made for me...the timed and volted ones don't improve my stability or OC's, which is a bummer. But I toned my OC down to 621/749 and I'm getting good results out of that little ammount of OC. And with my fan at 100% it stays nice and cool. So thanks again for modding that for me Formula!

Meh don't mention it. Thats a pretty good speed combo for the 1950s. If you can get more ram speed, go for it. If you can, cool the ram separate from the GPU
