Yea, thats what we deserve, I say. You have a GT don't you? If so, the GTs are rejected XT and XTXs, and both of those are clocked at 650mhz. So if yours made the clock for those, but the pipes failed, that would make sense why you can get more. Sapphire makes an XTX with standalone liquid cooling that is clocked @ 700mhz.

I'm interested what you definition of "modified" is :p Seeing as my HIS cooler does just as good as the x2 cooler.

EDIT: NM You sig shows a Pro :(

GT's r not XT and XTX rejected, they have the same core as the pro, exact same, and neither the pro is rejected XT or XTX, they r a new core with 12 pipes and 36 pixel pipes based on the XT core but manufactured at 80nm instead of the 90nm of the XT version.

Some say that the GT version is the cores of the pro that didn't pass the heat test at the spec frequencies, but i doubt it, i think the GT is the same as the pro only with lower freq. and manufactures/ATI (drivers) r limiting the overclock

Anyone know how to tell if your card has the hardware to modify voltages via a voltage table in bios? I'd like to at least check my card out.

I have an HIS X1950PRO 256mb non ICEQ version. I'm running on water with a max gpu temp of 38c on load but cannot seem to get the core over 621. It's stable there but as soon as I go to the next step it starts artifacting and locks up within seconds.

i've found that the best test for a videocard is the GPU.FAH client.
i can run the ATT to infi. @715, with GPU.FAH it runs for about 2min before my comp crashes, i have to bump it down to ~705 to run the GPU client for more then 1hr.
throw in a 8K FFT orthos....if you can run a OC'ed computer for more then 1hr with both running, your G2G.

Heres my original bios you wanted skandal. its a very ugly affair looking at it, mis-matched timings, reserved CAS latency that samsung themselves say NOT to use in their pdf, etc.

if your rom is volt locked, you can always hard-mod it and get a-lot more voltage then you can with a soft mod.

Dont whack a huge amount of voltage in right away, do small increases to find where your card becomes unstable as the 1950pro is very picky with voltage.

Heres another Xpertvision\palit BIOS, not sure how it will react, but it seems very stable in testing. Default clocks 621\1.5GHz.

I tried the volt mod on the Asus EAX1950pro about 2 months ago. It involved
bridging several contacts with conductive ink and penciling the 3066 resistor down
to 5.9k ohm. This was based on a guide which I think was on VR-Zone website. Some people
also had better luck solder on a variable pot. instead of penciling 3066.

For me I got no actual voltage change with the hard mod. Some people were getting
voltage increase with different cards but the problem is there is a video signal loss
as soon as they go into a 3d app. Apparently this is due to the vrm power supply on the
cards being already maxed out.

So my take on the hard mod is that it doesn't really work. The article on the site also suggests not to bother. ITs also tricky and you can easily short out or damage your card.
