You are correct. The Australian game ratings are set by a committee, of which he was a member. It was his vote alone that has blocked the reforms but we do not know whether the next person will vote the same, nor even when the next time the committee meets.

I'm still happy he is going - he was/is an embarassment to the Australian online community.

Ah yes, and they come out of the wood-works.

Who cares that the guy is a pillar of decency and values for the public.
Who cares that the guy contributed to a government that saw significant decreases in crime.
Who cares that the guy did this or did that..

As long as we get to play our video games...

I haven't put my boot up anyone's ass recently, how about you all pay me to come visit and knock some sense into you?

    =)

I care about what affects me. I didn't get to elect him, I don't live where he "contributed to society" and I remain convinced he was nothing but a cantankerous old fart who over used his power to enforce moral judgements on a part of society he has little comphrehension of. ya can kick my arse if ya want, but that is the same kind of attitude he had. I'm not a schoolboy moaning on, I am entitled to be pleased he is going.

he got elected in SA, yet he had the power to blow R18 games (and other things) in every state in australia, not just where he was elected.

Thats why no one likes him.

And read that bloody article... nothing about him being wrong or uneducated... all about him wanting to spend time with his son.

I must admit i was suprised by this decision as he was pretty much untouchable. My only hope is we dont get someone even more draconian as ag. Now all we need is Stephen Conroy to do the same and it will be early christmas time.
