GPU running 297Mhz on 2nd 3870

I'm really starting to hate this Sapphire 3870 single slot!! My new issue is Rivatuner shows the GPU running 297 even though I have the card unlocked in CCC. I tried to manually set the core speed to 777 like my Gecube but as soon as I hit apply it goes right back to 297. Anyone have any ideas on this one because my head hurts--> :banghead:

It's called powerplay, in 2d mode CCC underclocks your cards. It's perfectly normal.

Could be the oc tools what you are using. If you do nothing (remove every gpu oc software), it will run at the rated speeds

Just seems odd the Gecube is running its rated speed according to Rivatuner but the Sapphire is running 297Mhz core speed. Also I don't have them overclocked since the crappy A$$ design of my motherboard by ECS puts one card right under the other one meaning no nice cool air for the top card.

If you have crossfire enabled both cards should be running at 297mhz core in 2d mode.
