It really doesn't matter my nvidia card works perfect with my amd set up if you want sli and amd just find the right mother board.

no there is no should at all , but i say better , nvidia nforece 790i is really great chipset's and you can take a look , also other great AMD chipset is 790fx but it is support crossfire , so isay the 790i and 790fx is better chose than 750i

Are you planning on a 1680x1050 monitor? If so currently and probably for the future you won't need an sli board. So perhaps finding a good stable board that will do what you want.

that's a good idea (asus or gigabyte)

also the 275 kicks major ass and if you have the cash i'd get that over the 260 any day, way more 'future proof' if there ever was such a thing.

For a monitor I'd say look at Acer, they have treated me great over the years. I recently got an Asus 24" 1920x1080 LCD, which is also amazing, but more expensive. I stick with Samsung Sata DVDRW drives, they're cheap on the 'egg generally around 20-25 shipped and perform great, I'd also have you consider G.Skill memory also, they have competetive prices and performance. The Logitech MX518 mouse is a sweet mouse, I still prefer my G5 over it though, both are great and similarly priced last I checked, depends on what you want in the end both kick ass.

You'll have a great build El Mayo, it should last you for a good while, and when it doesn't perform like you want, up the ante on cooling and overclock a little bit!

I'm curious when DX11 takes off, but I'm betting that DX11 won't be much till after 2nd gen DX11 cards are out. So I'm not worried about any kind of DX11 advantage in next gen tbh, I'm sure there'll be DX11 benches for those that need them, but I also have a feeling the games side will be slim pickins for a while.

haha, everyone thinks that way at first, but I'm sure eventually you'll wanna try it out! Check out the OC guides on this site, including the one in my sig. The way not to screw things up is researching your hardware, having ample cooling that is monitorred, understanding what settings do what and what needs changed in your MB's bios to overclock successfully, and ensuring stability. Many CPU's I have had in the last couple years have needed less than stock voltage for an overclock (core2's though), which is just awesome. GPU's like the GTX260 are quite potent overclockers, I generally just open up precision set to 666 linked (666/1458) on GPU and 1100-1200 on memory.

You're building a nice rig that should last you quite well, but if you want to get more out of it later on, overclocking is a good way to go, open up the bandwidth of the MB/CPU/Mem, get that GPU pumping out power to the screen and you'll be impressed. If it's not something you want to do now, there's nothing wrong with that, but when you decide to, you're in the right forum for learning how to overclock, I've gained most of my knowlege between help here and google, which a lot of google searches led back to TPU for me!

Bios is easy, just use common sense and take the time to read about what settings you need to mess with and what they affect, it's not really very challenging, it can be time consuming when tuning a final OC for lowest voltage + stability, but beyond that overclocking isn't really that hard to do...which is why so many do it. Get more bang for your buck, if you need even more get more cooling to use more voltage, just be aware of boundries where damage can occur, once again research, guides and asking, and you'll be good to go without having to worry about it.

i just saw that you can pick up HD 4850's at the exact same price

so.. 4850x2 > GTX 260
