Heck yeah! After the EVGA $30 rebate, I'm gonna have paid a total of 239.99 for a GTX260...I won't complain one bit for such a powerful card!

So far I'm very happy I went with the GTX260! Absolutely NO ISSUES! :toast:

yeah the partners are taking one for the team, but the consumers are getting a great deal at the mo.

i've already seen a GTX260 on the shelf for 335 AUD and a GTX280 for 540 odd AUD Tk, thats just awesome.

Good deal.

But it seems that EVGa is the one dropping prices.
My XFX version is still $329.00. Waiting patiently to go SLI

the sale ends today on those cards, if you want them you better buy them now

one more will come up. dont worry. Nvidia cant afford to lose their customers and let them get accustomed to ATI .

I'm hoping some ATI price slashing will follow in the next week or so :D

Dont count on it.

ATI's not the one under pressure. Their cards ( the reference cards they make and other people stick their stickers on it) are selling like hotcakes, ATI's sold enough cards to compete with Nvidia on price . ATI can keep their prices up a little bit and still beat Nvidia on the profit made from this generation of cards. Their prices will come down as time goes by, but dont expect price slash from them .

I think that the sweet point is the 4850- you can find them for $150. Then just get a Spider platform and add another whenever you need more performance. If you need to, you can reach the level of the 4870 through overclocking. GDDR5 doesn't offer that much of a performance boost.

Actually, the HD4870 is $254.99 after MIR while the GTX260 is $244.99. That makes the GTX260 $10 cheaper than the HD4870. If these prices keep up, I don't see any reason to buy an HD4870 unless you already have one and want to go crossfire.

There's DX10.1...

Who cares about DX10.1; the only game to use it, Assassin's Creed, was glitchy as hell with NV cards so they patched it. It was fine on my ATi rig so I didn't use the patch on that one.

It still comes down to preference with these 2 cards. That's it, nothing more nothing less.

Exactly, I was gonna pick up a 4870 eventually but now it looks like I'm gonna go with a GTX260 since I have an SLI mobo and the option to upgrade is always nice.

Very sweet that this $450 launch card is now $250 though :D

and... the 4870 is faster!

Really? :D

Take a look at my Vantage score with a stock GTX260 in the new Vantage thread:
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66004

3rd place in the top10...I ran it with open windows, virus scan on, browser open...granted it's no top tier score...and maybe this'll get some more HD4870's to compete...dunno...I'm not a benchie fan, but I did it for my GTX thread.
