its a FAMILY pc what dont you understand yet

sell the gpu to his sister or mom whoever wants the damn machine

its an E8200 dual core for there web browsing etc they dont need faster, an SSD is the only way to speed up windows by any large margin a 4350 wont do squat for gpu hardware excelleration

his 5770 in that PC would be money in HIS pocket which could be used to grab say a Sapphire 5850 xtreme for $140 giving double the performance of his 5770, sell the 5770 it costs him $100 or so the same price he would pay for another 5770 new anyway. meaning he gets an upgrade the total cost is the same and both PCs benefit, god damn and as for the golden spoon comment, thats just BS,

wow looks like someone pissed in there cornflakes this morning lol, and for the gold spoon i don't regret saying that, we all don't have $1000 dollars for 2 video cards which is totally unnecessary for today games, maybe its to be cool for bragging rights who knows, just my 2 cents one mid end to high end card is more then enough for any latest title games

my poin on the golden spoon is im mostly far poorer then most on this forum and i still afford it its called saving up for what you want ppl should try it sometime

and sorry erocker but its pretty self explanatory even if the guy cant seem to understand the simple logic

for a PC used for web browsing music, etc a quadcore isnt going to magically make it faster we already know that, a gpu better then the 4350 would give the machine new legs since newer apps are using gpus now, overall its a simple upgrade choice, the OP gets a newer faster GPU for less all in all it makes alot of sense if he was going to buy a gpu for the older PC anyway. the only upgrade for the old rig to see a huge increase is an SSD, buy why would he put an SSD in a rig thats old and he wont be using? In general theres no other upgrade that makes sense to increase the lifespan of the Old PC

Its not really rocket science here, or high lvl math its pretty straight forward,

name something web site related? that utilizes more then a hd4350, cause from my experience Ive found hardly to little no difference in playing flash games in Facebook, back to the original topic the guy is trying to cut cost and upgrade and naturally get better performance, again like Ive before its wise for him to use hes current hd5770 for now then look around fairly new low end gpu for hes second system (qoute) i think needs your eyes checked

uh newest Firefox and other Browsers now use the GPU to do all webpage rendering they now use the GPU for hardware acceleration so a better gpu does help in these regards

the 5770 is already on hand

so by your options he should use the 5770 and buy a cheaper alternative okay thats great but a 5770 is pretty much low end these days anyway. but i digress sure waste money on a half assed gpu upgrade that is somewhere between a 5770 and a 4350, it accomplishes the same goal but dosent really help him out in anyway shape or form, id rather see him spend his money on his own rig, and reusing the 5770 accomplishes that, the older rig gets a good upgrade not a halfassed one, and he can charge them a bit for the 5770 he would have originally bought to put in the rig anyway,

hes willing to spend $300 to upgrade the old rig, so i still cant see why he would buy crap upgrades because you think its a better idea, hes already willing to spend $300 on it, just put the 5770 in the rig and use his money to buy a good GPU, they get a decent upgrade on both fronts, and all is well that ends well

I dont know the psu brand what I know is that it's 400 wats psu well right now i'm willing to spend 300 dollars

so the way i see it instead of wasting $300 in upgrades on a socket 775 system

a gpu swap out would give the machine some extra life,

then spend the $300 on his own PC everyones happy whats so hard to understand about this.

correction a hd 5770 might be tad old but its not low end more like mid end, also so where does that put my gtx 560 ti mid end even though i match or come close to a hd6950 and gtx570, again making a valid point just because hardware its slightly older doesn't mean it cant handle current latest titles, so in your eyes just because its a few years old oh no we have to upgrade its low end lol

uh no because its a 5770 and 128bit bus means at the new standard res of 1920x1080 it dosent hold up anymore

a 5770 is a 4870 with DX11, its great for games from 2006-2008 but thats about it,

a 5770 gets choked in older games from 2006 you can believe what you want to believe,

but if hes willing to spend $300 on that old PC that hes GIVING TO HIS SISTER, why shouldnt he use the 5770 in that rig and spend HIS money on HIS pc explain why your trying to argue with me that my idea is asinine when obviously it seems you would rather he spend his cash on shit upgrades to a PC thats not even going to be his, to eventually do crossfire when hes running a 785g board that wont do Xfire, or upgrade later.

guess what if we all upgrade later later later later later we never upgrade. with that logic, he should spend his money on stuff for everyone, and never upgrade his own PC which will see far more use out of the parts then a machine for his sister,

So we should just throw them all away? Not, They still have use as with most old sockets. People buy the latest greatest and think that nothing else compares. I agree you should not drop a lot of $ on it and expect high end gaming but the 775 is still very useful platform.
