Try repairing windows.
When you first boot off of the Windows cd, it'll go to a blue screen with a lot of stuff loading... after everything is done it will give you 3 options: 1. Install Windows, 2. Go to the repair console, and 3. exit.
Choose option 1 (no, this will not format your hd). After doing that there should be a pause and then it'll display the previous installed version of Windows. From there choose the repair option, and then it'll delete some Windows related files and reinstall them.
^ That's the method to use if you don't know what to do in the repair console. I'm not sure if this will fix your problem but you might want to give it a try.
Edit: Oh and before pressing any buttons, READ everything that is displayed!
