What does Core.temp read with Corsair disabled? What I am getting at is Core.temp and HWINFO should be reading nearly identical.

Try & get an AM5 socket guard to stop the TIM falling into those cut out slots around the chip. I did that with my AM5 systems from day one. The unorthodox shape of these Zen 4 chips concerned me but luckily there are 3rd party products that can help with it & they are cheap to purchase.

I'm off to bed. The only other thing I can think of is to disable or uninstall HWINFO and Core.temp and run Corsair solo to see how it acts. After that pick which one you trust and roll with it alone and shit can the rest. My vote for the circular file would be the Corsair software. ;)

Good Morning ,i will try this afternoon after work what you mention and see if this is a compatibility issue or what . Maybe do a fresh windows install , doesn't matter me that much , i prefer that to take my machine to the pc shop next week

Could you boot your PC into BIOS. Go into thermal management and see what BIOS is reporting for temps?

Yeah, it appears you just have a software conflict.

Yes which is why I wanted you to show BIOS..that is the most accurate temp reading, all the other software that runs in the OS is usually accurate but you have something going on like Elco said. AND Bios temps are usually higher than when in Idle at the OS level because all the OS thermal management isn't active yet. So I think you system is running as it should.

Thank you to both! I will check for any conflict between software's or anything that could be related (drivers ,etc.) .In case i found a solution i will let guys know , for the moment is good to hear that maybe this isn't a faulty cooler related issue

Hi All ,

Update an possible solution ( im not sure if these are ideal temps) , i had an app called Asus Armory Crate that for some reason was causing those high temps , now my cpu is around 45-50c idle , compared to the 65-70c is a noticeable change . Also here we are on summer so the ambient temperature is around 30c that can explain also having 45-50c idle temps i guess. I will keep monitoring and see i can found something else at my system.

One question , i saw a couple of videos for the 7th generation of ryzen about something called PBO2 and a few people mentioned that they saw temperatures dropping around 10c with almost no noticeable loss of performance by doing a few tweaks to the CPU , i guess that is basically doing overclocking and will reduce the life time of my CPU. What are your thoughts about that ? Thank you!

Absolutely use PBO on these chips...makes a huge difference....you are not overclocking, but rather reducing voltages. Try negative 30 each core...most will handle that. Do it in bios as I have found RyzenMaster to be semi-flakey at times.

Hi ,

Dont want to bother you to much but thats the unique setting i have to set ? I don't have that much experience with tweaking CPU parameters . Besides that temps are looking better , for gaming , i tested a few games and most of them were stable at 68c , some of them were around 63c :)

This will show you where in your bios...don't bother with anything other than the curve optimizer for now. From what I gather ASUS is terrible about overvolting components.

Thank you! Only i need to change the voltage for each core to -30 , right ? I mean just that , i dont need to do any other changes
Yes, just do that first, save and exit. You should see a noticeable difference in temps right away. If for any reason it is unstable you can easily go back and try -20.

You are not specifically changing voltages with this setting...it is merely a after effect. Once you get comfortable in the bios and learn more about the settings you can begin to fine tune your rig. One thing at a time and testing is usually the best course.

Yeah it’s possible some software to cause either faulty readings or actually cause CPU to higher temp because of method of sampling/polling it’s parameters, or due to high background activity.

HWiNFO64 is designed specifically to do as less negative effect as possible on low CPU core states (C1,C6) when entering sleep time.
All that needs to be done is to enable “Snapshot CPU Polling” from main settings.

Unfortunately , temps were pretty similar and even i saw a weird behavior were temperatures oscillated to much , went to 65c then 45c , then 55c , 65c again , and finally stable at 45c-50c . Either way i didn't play to much with that setting i just tried -30 for all the cores . I will read a bit more on that and try to get the best config possible. Thank you!

Yes , i have that enabled and now after i uninstalled Armory Crate , temps looks similar in all apps

Try it in one of your games where you know what temps it ran before.

Keep in mind that negative steps in Curve Optimizer affects temperature mostly under heavy loads. I’m not sure you’ll see any difference when gaming, and most likely nothing when idling.

Try & get an AM5 socket guard to stop the TIM falling into those cut out slots around the chip. I did that with my AM5 systems from day one. The unorthodox shape of these Zen 4 chips concerned me but luckily there are 3rd party products that can help with it & they are cheap to purchase.

If he did not use TIM, 65-70°C in idle is still abnormally high.
With a cheap air cooler, my specific CPU is only 21° C warm according to the Biostar motherboard (when I leave the BIOS open for 20 minutes).
I am reasonably sure that if I had not used any TIM that the CPU would not get more than 30° hot.

Hi ,

For me it was a software issue , Armory Crate from ASUS was causing high cpu usage , after uninstalling it my idle temps dropped 15c or more , now are around 40-50c idle and max 68c while gaming ,which i consider pretty normal .

I hope you found a solution . Let me know if you need anything else
