it's too bad.
I am starting to think that god does not want me to test SLI :respect: :D

I can't believe I was so stupid not to remove that bloody midi cable...

Did you look at the photos? It must be the worst SLI PC on this forum lol

The card was only £30 so it's not so bad, I will borrow another card soon to test with.

After all this I really hope rev.4 can work now, I'm really looking forward to trying it. :)

What were you testing in the "experiment" you did this morning ???

fast and simply method is system restore

unfortunately it didn't solve the issue too , because the oldest Restore point was October 2nd 2009 which is the date after the problem occured.

any ideas?

Me to! :( So there is code in the driver that actually checks the PCIe speeds?

Also I have just found that my friend has 8800GTS not 8800GT! But if it is 512Mb I can flash it to work ok.

@Amarantine, if you have a Vista install disc?

1.Boot up the computer with Windows Vista installation DVD.
2.Choose Install.
3.At the screen before you’re asked to input product key, press Shift + F10 keyboard shortcut to open command prompt.
4.Change directory to the C:\WNDOWS\System32\
5.Then "del hal.dll"
6.Then "ren hal.dll.bck hal.dll"
7.Reboot

So you can disable this check? Did you try running cards at x2+x16 yet? You could use the "sticky-tape" trick to drop the speed.

maybe x2 isnt supported

Probably not.. Plus note my Shader count on the 2x260 192 & 216.
This could have had something to do with the low benchmarks I saw.
The SLI benches were below running a single card. I didn't do a lot of test on that rig.
So those may could have been improved.

i haven't tried. i have no means. but you can try.
I tried taping both cards down to x2 before (with old mods), it did not work but single card performance is fine, only lost 1-2fps is Crysis.

I've tested 112SP+128SP G92s before and performace was ok, I think 2nd PCIe slot on P35 is connected through the southbridge, maybe that explains it?

I just want to see what happens with it.

Did you ever try hitting F8 key just before boot of windows?
Pick: Last Known good Config?

Do a repair install of the OS.
Boot from the windows CD, go to the point of a install & there should be a chose
to pick a fresh install or do a repair. Not a command prompt repair go past that point.
Then you shoulds see another chose of a F6 for repair. Or is it press R for repair, been awhile? lol
