Well my Q6600 didnt work in either of my 2 680i's nor my 780i so i decided to remove te ihs.....i was not planning on it being soldered......at least it was dead prior.

i did some redecorating, and moved my quad back into the rampage and put the e3110 in the p5n-e sli. so now atleast i have a small oc going on in the p5n-e, it hated the quad and wouldnt post anything above stock. you know it just killed me running anything at stock speeds.

so in other words my quad has a happy home again.

I would like to say that removing the IHS was a very intresting experiance

First the sealent used on it was harder to get through than i thought even the razor blade made it hard i had to be really carefll i was pushing harder than i thought id need to.

however it was easier than i thought because the blade simply skimmed over the transistors under the IHS.....

a second thing i learned...you IMMEDIETELY know when your core is soldered on the IHS as you here a little bit of a crack.

the third thing i learned is that cpu silicone cores are incredably fragile they do NOT hold up as well as i thought...
