As an interesting note, you can get a modular one (Corsair 850HX) for $5 more than the PCP&C 910 and it comes with the same 6 x PCI-E connectors. I believe Corsair is just as good as PCP&C, the only thing being that PCP&C is more than likely a single rail while the Corsair is likely multi rail.

Now I don't think your 850TX will have a problem aside from the fact that its only got 4 x PCI-E connectors. I'm currently using a PCP&C 750 to power 2x GTX260s and an OC'ed Q9450. I know your rig will draw more power but I've heard of people using the PCP&C 750 to power Tri SLi systems via molex to PCI-E adapters, albeit with a Core 2 Quad or Duo, not i7.

If you're worried about it, you can step up to the PCP&C 910 but I don't think that's really giving you much more headroom than what you already have. I may be entirely wrong on all of this though. I'm interested in replies to this thread as well because I was looking to get the 850HXs for my own Tri SLi rig making.

I usually use Corsair myself, I'd just like to note that the HX series of Corsair typically has multiple rails and are modular, while the TX series is usually single railed and not modular.

Yes, I figured that would be the case on the HX being multi-railed. I couldn't remember the TX was or not though.

At any rate, multi rail and single rail actually isn't all that different. Multi rail will still supply you same power output, its just broken up across multiple connector lines. In total they can offer a theoretical that's higher than what the actual box outputs, but most users (99% I'd say) will not load down every connector. The only time I think single rails should be considered over multi rails is if you're an extreme OC'er and you're maxing out everything on the bench (or if your personal preferences apply). Even then most people have enough PSU overkill to not need to worry about this. Most of the time both units will net you the same result though.

Yup. I didn't mean to be nitpicky, just putting it out there. I prefer to use single rails. Just simpler for me; I don't have to make sure I'm putting video cards on the right rail. Guess I'm just simple minded.

In theory the 3x260 would be faster, but SLI scaling limits performance regardless at the number of video cards. So in theory a 295 (2x275) could be a similar speed of 3x260

I'd rather fold on 3 x GTX 260 than 2 x GTX 295, but that's my use for my graphics cards so he may have his own reasons. Besides, its cheaper for him to just pick up another GTX 260 as opposed to selling two off for roughly 150 USD (shipped). He'd still need more money to buy them new and still a little extra to buy them used.

A 1200w is usually unnecessary. Many people buy PSU's that supply 1000w+, but in reality even th most high end rigs peak at only 900w or so.

The 750 is pushing it, and may decrease the life of the PSU. However, the 850TX will handle this setup just fine, and more than likely provide more stable pwer than the Chieftec, despite the higher wattage.
