I think Fit's 3 thread idea works quite well, but for big sellers (like yourself, for example) there is a need for more threads because you might have a PII X4 965 C3 for sale and then another i5 750 for sale and you need to get rid of them fast, you might want to make 2 threads.

My suggestion is 1 thread for long term sale items, and as many as you like for fire sale items (like 75% for mint conditions, 50% or below for used compared to market price)

If that's the case we should just let people do what they want.;) I've got no problems with multiple threads. Of course if I see four different threads in a row on the front page from one person I'm going to do something about it. It's borderline forum spam in my opinion. If you want to bump all of your threads at once might as well just have one thread. It's more about common sense and respecting other members.

I am all for removing B/S/T threads from the "Latest Posts" box.

So you're basically saying you like the system as is. "Big sellers" aren't anymore important than the little guy trying to establish a name for him/herself. A bit elitist, don't you think?

He wasn't quoting you. :p Many of us have bought and sold to random unknown folks. People get badgered when a thread doesn't meet the forum requirements. If anyone is badgering anyone for any other reason they are "moderated."

Multiple threads should be allowed in some cases, but for the most part out of courtesy for others I limit the # of threads in B/S/T to one.

Well, "Big sellers" always have more things to sell than small sellers, so they deserve to have more threads, no? But if little guys comes out with massive amount of good deals, I dont mind him making multiple threads. My only requirement is whether the product is available for me to buy or not. That's my biggest gripe, people offering good deals I cant buy them because they dont ship to me.

But why do you need more threads? Why does the "big seller's" stuff deserve more space than the others? If I had 12,000 NICs could I make a thread for each just because I'm a "big seller?"

An extreme example to be sure, but I hope you get the point. There's no reason you can't put all your FS stuff in one thread. Less threads to go through means less threads being bumped down means more time to see each persons thread rather than sorting through multiples.

Don, I think you miss my point. Its always more convenient to have thread title like: i5, new, going off for $100 ex postage, ships worlwide, because its informative and you dont need to "go inside and have a look". If you have 12,000 awesome deals, then be my guest, make all 12,000 of them. I am sure you will give up after your 100th one and start grouping them in nice bundles of maybe 100 items each or so.

We buy things we are looking for, not from sellers we want. If you start to group all the products together, I can guarantee you all the established sellers is going to dominate the FS thread, because they naturally have a lot of things to sell and everyone will check out their's first as the likehood of finding a good buy is higher.

I fully get the point you are making, but my threads are a direct reversal of your point.

Peety's mini sale isnt descriptive, nor is it in any way informative, but 12,000+ views later, I dont think the title matters. I browse like a woman shops for shoes, I look at them all for hours on end, and wait for that special something to jump out and scream buy me.

I get that you want to look for a specific item if you need say a PSU, but isnt that what the want to buy threads are for? Then the sellers come to you;)

No. There is not a shortage of space in their thread, and the big/small sellers should all have equal room on the front page of the B/S/T section. I consider myself a "big" seller, and even so I have only one thread for my hardware.

Sorry Peet, but whenever people see "Sneeky's Summer Sale" or "Fits Freebies", everyone will take a look at it, whether they want to buy anything or not. However, if I posted "Fourstaff's Emporium", I would be lucky to get even 100 views, because not a lot of people is going to waste their time browsing my shop with maybe 5 items so old its better off going to museum. Lets say I have a CRT 17" monitor and I want to sell it for £20. If I posted in "Fourstaff's Emporium", I would not get a lot of views. If I posted as a new thread, eg, 17" CRT £20!!, then people interested in CRT's will easily find it, and I can sell fast.

That's a temporary solution to a long term problem.

This is why I have no problem with multiple threads. If you are selling a particular item for a good deal and you know it's going to sell immediately. Fine. What I see from time to time is someone will start with one thread. Find they aren't selling anything and go and create separate threads for each item. Unfortunately the reason things aren't selling is because the prices aren't that good. So now instead of seeing one thread with poor prices with a bump, the member(s) will go ahead and bump all of thier threads with poor prices at once and it puts people off. So, as some advice. If your multiple threads aren't selling anything... Lower your prices because you're doing it wrong. You'll sell just as much in a single thread with better prices.

This has all been brought up before and it was agreed that multiple threads would be allowed. It is only really a problem when it happens like I described above. There is nothing in the forum guidelines stating you can't PM the seller in question and tell them your mind on how they are conducting business. Perhaps if they knew how the rest of the community or potential buyers felt they would change the way they are going about selling their wares.

Again thats what WTB threads are for, just because I have a recognizable name and a pretty big following, doesn't in one bit mean I don't still try to find homes for them. I always search the WTB threads to see if I can offload anything I have for sale.

The big point you are missing, is that we aren't saying you must keep one thread forever, just one thread per sale, no matter whats there at the time. If the sale sux, create a new thread later with a new title, and move your warez to that thread. The point here is to make it so when a guy has 3, 4, or 5 threads and makes an appearance in the FS section, he then bumps all 3, 4, or 5 at once, flooding the recent posts, and knocking up to 4 other members off the front page.

So like for me, Im a little seller but I want to get my wireless-N router sold right away. How would I go about that? Ive tried lowing the price, changing my for sale name and everything. I know alot of people would want that router and I was temped to make i a thread of its own. Would that be ok for me to do that?

as the rules sit, you can add a thread to try and sell the router, but as I said its timing, if the router is already at a good price, and you have changed titles to no avail, I say its just no one "needs" one right now.

you could offer a free six pack of choice with purchase..... Flashing lights.....umm discount on your next hooker coupons....j/k

IDK really. I have sat for weeks on things, hell I had a case for sale for the better part of 6 months, untill I practically gave it away for what shipping cost me. Sometimes it just happens.

With the deals I have gotten on cases from Sneeky I do not doubt that at all. That said, we know how to get cheap cases now... :) J/K. Im watching that thread though in all seriousness.

In a state of flux...
It isn't so much who the thread starter is in relation to how many views it gets....its more about how much talking goes on IN the thread that doesn't need to be said there.

That's what gives the majority of threads the high view count they get, mainly due to the fact that users talk about random stuff in the FS threads and it bumps them to the top of the FS/WTB/WTT forum and the front page often.

Cut out the unnecessary chat in threads and the traffic to threads will be more equal and allow even new members to sell goods fast without the need to limit the amount of threads a user is allowed to have. :toast:

I feeel for the people that have good deals one one item that for some reason doesn't sell. Its supply and demand; sometimes you just get unlucky and no one need a router. That's gonna happen. That's also my point with the multiple threads. Sometime what the single item thread people are seling stuff people don't nned at that point. Is it fair that their four threads keep bumping down the others with other stuff? It's give and take.

I still say editable thread titles will solve this problem fairly quickly.
