Sorry I will stop doing that now, so guys what exactly am I doing wrong,I'm suppose to be able to run at 4.0ghz at under 60 degrees right? I just set it to 3.9ghz 1.45v, and cpu heated up really quickly.

Edit: any suggestions anyone?

A lot of people require more than 1.45V for 4Ghz on the X6, some as low as 1.475V, some as high as 1.525V
Make sure your HT is as close to 2000 as possible for stability at this point. Under 63 degrees is your goal, does it not boot with 4Ghz at 1.45?

At this point you need to make sure you TIM (thermal paste) isn't too thick on the chip, and that you're not using too much, and have it spread nicely.

Sometimes you have to accept the fact that sometimes there is a chip lottery, and yours may be leakier (more heat output) than others.

Meh at this point I'm not sure if I should go even past 3.7, cpu just reached 59 while playing bf4 at 3.7ghz, and god almighty the hot air that came out of the rear fans.

EDIT: yikes, i think i may need to set a custom fan setting... it reached 61 while playing bf4 at 3.7ghz, it never reached that high with my cooler master hyper 212 evo. I have a feeling there may be something wrong with this new cpu cooler, its running hotter than my coolermaster hyper 212 evo, and im pretty certain its suppose to be alot better than the hyper 212 evo. The fans are running perfectly fine, how do i verify whether or not the radiator is running correctly? One other thing was that whe ni first installed it, the pipes were on the top of the radiator near the top of the case, I turned on the computer nad it started making really bad funny noises, so i unscrewed it and turned it over, now its not making any noises. Although its not making any noises, i've seen other people on the internet mounting their radiator where the pipes are on top. Could my new cpu cooler be faulty? CPU is also idling at 40- 44 degreese, pretty sure my cpu ran cooler while idle with the coolermaster hyper 212 evo as well..

-Whats the pump RPM? If you have the pump's signal wire running to your CPU FAN header it should report it. The wire is snug on there and the correct direction? It looks like unlike prior H coolers it runs entirely off the fan header.
-Did you use the original paste or your own paste?
-Can you take a photo of the inside possibly?
Orientation of the radiator shouldn't make a big difference IMO.

Your hunch is right that the idle is too high, so something is wrong. It could either be:
-bad contact/thermal paste
-wiring is wrong so the pump isn't spinning correctly
-defective unit

lol bad thermal, I didn't even bother cleaning of my old thermal paste.. and since the cooler had thermal paste applied to it.. i just stuck it on my cpu hoping it wud be fine...Plus i had a bit of trouble trying to get the stupid small cooler on top of the cpu in place, screwing the dam thumb screws in place. Due to my case being pretty small and tight, it made everything even more annoying and harder. Where can i find out the pump's RPM? and yes its connected to the cpu header. According to CPUID, the cpu fan is running at around 1475 RPM, and since i plugged the pump header into the cpu header im guessing thats what you want to know... my fans were connected into a CHA_FAN header...

EDIT: Its pretty late atm, but i will definitely take some pictures tomorrow and post it here.

EDIT: woke up this morning, pc is idling at 33 degreese celcius and i've left the computer on for about 2 hours now. Is this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Arctic-S...0?pt=AU_Components&hash=item1c3be69d56&_uhb=1 and the mx-4 thermal paste good enough?

Sorry for the double post, here are some pictures.

EDIT: i got lazy with cable management, after upgrading so many parts all the time. Oh and i've bought the artic silver arcticlean and mx-4, waiting for them to be delivered.

Yes those two items will be good for clean and then paste. Make sure you clean both the CPU's top and the h75 heatsink. Also articlean is a liquid so it could short the board, make sure you only use it on the cpu and the heat sink and it doesn't go anywhere (don't spill it on the motherboard). I found that articlean left behind some residue so my current strategy is I articlean it with the two step articlean droppers as directed then I clean it with 92% isopropyl alcohol and lint free rag then once its evaporated (wait a few minutes) put paste into center of the die and then mount the heatsink. You can choose if you want to do the dot method or the line method or the spread method. I had good results with a smallish dot in the center on my old Phenom.

pictures look fine, the heatsink can be mounted in any orientation 360* so next time you mount it you could make the pirate ship's sails level, your preference lol. The loop is so small the pump probably doesn't care.

Hopefully articlean will be good enough lol, and yeah I will try not to use too much of it so I dont get it on anything other than cpu and h75

i usualy clean thermal paste with paper tissue stuff, then some alcohol 99% the only times that wont work is when you get pre assembled junk with bubble gum thermal paste.

this is how my phenom II was setup
cpu vcore 1.38750v
cpu multi 13
cpu-nb muti 13
cpu-nb vid 1.25
that gives you 2600Mhz witch is lower then stock
now install phenomMSR tweaker
http://phenommsrtweake.sourceforge.net/
using phenomMSR you can set the core speed and multi as well as the new target cpu VID from within windows
the reason for setting a lower speed/voltage from the bios is that it gives you finer control over the voltage
now you can set whatever mutli/voltage combo from windows and still maintain decent temps
so 20 @ 1.50v would be 4.Ghz @ 1.480v under load because of the way msr tweaker sets the vid target think of it as a form of load line calibration

what cpu cooler do you have?

EDIT: isn't it better to overclock in bios as well, rather than using programs? I still haven't reapplied new thermal paste or anything.. but lately the temperatures are getting a little bit better. Maxed out at 57 degreese celcius 3.7ghz which im guessing is still bad. Im still waiting on my new thermal paste and cleaner to arrive in the mail before i do anything.

scyth mugen 2 rev b with two couger 12hpb fans it gets up to 60c or so during a small fft stress test take the temp readings with a grain of salt anything below 70c(core temp) is fine regardless of what AMD or other people say tho above 65c or so stability starts to take a dive

I'd put the articlean on a rag rather than dripping it on the cpu, so it doesn't run off and short components.

You could just use rubbing alcohol
this is what mine looks like at MAXIMUM stress load @ 4Ghz1.480v/2800NB 1.27v with both fans at 100%
honestly it sounds like you bigger issues then poor paste application this cooler isn't even that great

the evo is a decent enough cooler but its small pushing beyond 120W tdp and it starts getting running out of mass to keep things cool I got the mugen free so whatever the h75/80 isn't great tho as far as AIO water coolers are concerned above 80F ambient they rapidly run out of cooling power you really need like a 120mm rad for a X6 at over 3.8

So, the corsair h75 definetly should be performing better than the coollermsater?

according to guru3d its better on paper
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_h75_review,11.html
that being said
id send it back and get something else the lower end H series is notoriously junky
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146027
I installed the kraken x40 into a customer system no issues with it keeps his oC'd i7 under 75C @ 1.22v 4.4Ghz
the mugen is huge and heavy and I need to support it with a ziptip attached to the top of the case to reduce board flex the mounting system for it plainly sucks

Ahhh.. well it's better than the coolermaster, supposed to be.. I will see what happens when I reapply new thernal paste, and I think it's too late for an exchange

Edit: the corsair h75 is a 120mm radiator

Reapplied thermal compound. I firstly cleaned of the thermal compound from heatsink and than used the arctic silver arcticlean method, and did the same with cpu. Than i put a little bit of mx-4 thermal compound on to cpu and just put the cooler back on. So far so good.... testing with p95 max temperature is so far 57 degreese celcius, gonna try battlefield 4 in a few minutes.
