I did some benchmarking in hitman absolution to see how much video memory it used in 4k, but i noticed in msi afterburner that the gpu temp rose to over 90c! Ain't this cooler supposed to prevent such temps?

Am i supposed to connect the power cable from the fans to the 4 pin molex adapter it came with?

If so then:

Why does it have 2x fan connectors on it?
Is there a second power cable for the fans i haven't notised?

And if there is, and if i connect both to that adapter, how can i then change the fan speed through msi afterburner? CAuse i don't want the fans to spin at 100% all the time.

And they advertised it to not have the requirements for any cooling paste, then why did it come with paste already on it?

If you set it up with the moles adaptor, your fans will runn 100% all the time and theres no way of changing it tru software.

your card is running at 90C isent too much anyway at 4K.

all Ac coolers come with paste, just take it off if you want to use another or to make sure that theres the right amount.

But isn't this cooler supposed to send the gpu from 83c down to the 70's and even 60's in temps? o_O

Cause if the fan speed won't get higher when onnected to the gpu i will head back to the stock cooler! Or even buying a evga cooler for it!

Fans need to be powered via the included Molex adapter as described earlier. Just make sure you are plugging them into the 12V side of that adapter and not the 7V side.

The cooler should be more than capable of taming that card. If temps are still crazy after making sure of the proper fan power being supplied, I would look at the mount and make sure it is tight. Even something as simple as using the wrong washers in the assembly could be reasoning enough to keep the base of the cooler just a bit too far off the GPU to do its job properly.

The gpu has a 12V and a 7V plug? Cause all i ever saw there was the power plug for the fan and one for the glowing geforce leds

And i also saw the adapter had 2x 4 pin power connectors ffor the molex adapter, does the cooler have 2x 4 pin? If not, then why did i get an adapter with room for 2?

The 7 and 12v adapters are on the cooler itself. You ignore the GPU fan header with that aftermarket cooler.

Edit: actually, those headers are on the molex, not the cooler, sorry.

The cooler comes with it. (bottom left corner of following image)

I would suggest you go back and read the manual, it seems you are not following the directions provided by ARCTIC. I have reviewed a few of these coolers, and everything you need to know is in there, and needs to be followed exactly for your specific card.

I just reconnected the fan's connector to the adapter on the psu, but the temps still rose to 87... is there something wrong with the termal paste that came with the cooler?

It's only advertised as not using thermal glue that would leave residue in case you take the thing off. All heatsinks actually do need thermal interface material to perform at their full potential.

My guess is you attached it wrong. You checked that the fans spin right?

I cannot see your cooler through the interwebs. I would suggest, if you have extra Thermal Paste on hand, that you remove the cooler and look to see if the paste is spread properly. As I said earlier, it is possible that it is not making proper contact to the GPU.

Unlikely. It's more likely not seated correctly or the paste is uneven. If it was pre applied and you've since removed the cooler, there may be inadequate paste. Sometimes you can also apply too much. It should literally be a contact layer, no thicker than a hair width over the GPU die cover.

Ok, so i should try to attach it without any paste? Won't that make dents on the gpu head?

Ok, i re read it, and the paste was not re applied onto the gpu with the paste on. Could the cooler's original paste have been too much?

That is highly unlikely. Only way to know would be to pull the cooler from the card and see if the paste is spread out properly. As said earlier though, if it made proper contact, you will need to replace the TIM, so if you don't have extra paste, it will be an issue.

Yeah, i got some noctua paste i could use.

Then pull the cooler and see if the paste has spread properly or if it looks much like it did before you installed it.

It should look something like this if it is making proper contact....

Unlikely. Unless there is an obscene amount of paste, too much paste is usually not a problem since the paste will get squashed into a thin layer by the pressure. But there has to be pressure, the heatsink has to be pressed on to the thing you're cooling with only a thin layer of thermal paste in between. Just be careful to not overdo it since too much pressure can break your Titan X.

Ok, so i took out the gpu, and was about to unscrew the heatsink and realized the screws weren't even tighten! So i tightened the screws and booted up the pc again and now the temps are at 83c just as it was with the stock cooler after 5 min with metro last light and absolution. Is that normal? Or is the paste really bad or mis aligned as you guys thought it could be?

lose the spacers or get some 0.5mm plastics ones at the hardware
the manual is only a guide every card is different looks like it may be hitting the Vram so you may be screwed either way

I fixed the heat issues and i'm now at 50c max when benching the card.
nice. i just downloaded new msi- and damn titan card locks voltage at 1.0750. well. dont really wanna mess with voltage tweak programs to unlock it
