This makes two of us. Ppl are shouting everywhere how GTX 680 pwns HD7970. But i just fails to see that. Sure its faster by few fps in some games, but in others, they are basically neck to neck. Considering it came 4 months later, i can hardly be surprised. But in the end, thy both hardly justify the 600 bucks pricetag. For what, 20-30% better performance than old series? C'mon? Percentage sounds huge but when you convert that in framerate, there is hardly any proper difference. 50% boost or gtfo with such prices. These high end cards should cost no more than 350 EUR (460 bucks) with included tax imo with 7950 and GTX 670 below 300 EUR mark...

Well, back before AMD's 79XX series came out and changed some pricing of video cards, a GTX 580 was very nearly 50% more money than the GTX 570, for roughly 10% to 15% more performance. So yeah, a 680 that has 20% more performance than a 580 is going to cost half again as much. Don't be surprised, it's always like that.

I am sorry but I truly fail to see what is so exciting about this card. Yes its cheaper but 28nm yields are better. It's 4 months newer of course its going to be faster

Im not sure about you but its definitely not 4 months. Try 2-3. HD7970 released in January.

The 7970 didnt come out 4 months ago it came out back in January and it doesnt have a $600 price tag. It's $499. The 7970 is $549 and the 7950 is $449.99. Now stop and think, I am upgrading from a GTX 285. Its a HUGE upgrade for me and the price/performance is going to be better for me.

This.

I mean hell, yeah performance over the HD7970 is pretty small, but it still performs better and thats all that matters, and for the price its a killer of a card. Seems like some people just can't handle all the hype about it right now. But for me and im on a 470. Im pretty damn determined to get a 680.

and i typically always go Nvidia since I like a lot of their features and control panel and being able to force a lot of nice eye candy into a lot of games.

People are excited because Nvidia released a card that edges out the HD7970 while running cooler, quieter, requiring less power, and is cheaper. Neither of these cards cost $600 btw, but the GTX680 actually costs $500 (which I think is fair for the top performing single card you can get) and means that AMD will be forced to lower prices on their cards once Nvidia gets the rest of their line out. People were expecting a card that barely edged out the HD7970 and cost ~$50 more while possibly producing more heat and consuming at least as much power. Nvidia managed to put out a pretty damn impressive card with the GTX680.

Lowered? So it is "only" like 600+ $!

Usually anything tech-related is done at a conversion of $1 = 1 Euro. If they price is coming down at all it means either a price cut is inbound (inevitable) or New Zealand just has more in stock now and is normalizing the price to the original price point.

So I bought a voucher for Batman Arkham City from a member here on TPU because he bought a Samsung SSD. Was a promotion at the time. However, I have lost the key and would like to add this game into the benchmark, but I am unable to figure out how to reacquire my key. Anyone have any ideas?

This is the original page I got it from after receiving the voucher.

I want to get a 680. I also want to cool extremely well so it lasts a long time. I'm considering watercooling. I've been kinda rough on my current 6950 which plays pretty much all games on high. I want to see some watercooling setups with 680's and how well they overclock.

I want to get a 680. I also want to cool extremely well so it lasts a long time. I'm considering watercooling. I've been kinda rough on my current 6950 which plays pretty much all games on high. I want to see some watercooling setups with 680's and how well they overclock.

Got mine yesterday. It runs 34*C idle.
