I am going to post these here because I would like to see what you think about these Benches..... If these turn out to be true.... I wonder what would happen to ATI. At this performance I don't think ATI would be able to compete in the high end arena any longer. If they can't of course they would compete more in the mainstream...... But if that happens does that mean????? Gone are the day's to ATI 's real contention for top dog???

    Link Below....

    Benches....

I found these benches @ Guru that is the only reason I posted them...... Because they are supposed to be a leak. So again these are not verified they could be fake.

Not only that the specs of the GTX 380 are supposed to give it a 15% performance break over the 5970 (or some say)

So what do you think this would mean for a be loved Red team?

Me I am not completely worried because the real world Paper doesn't mean anything. Only real world performance but I figured I would pss it on to you guys....

BTW I am not trying to turn this into a a fanboy flamer contest...... So if you are wanting to make comments like that please do it somewhere else..... I am looking for only intelligent conversations.

Well, i only fear about 3 things:
    - if this is fake
    - prices
    - power consumption (especially idle)

Very good points..... But that's why I think they are trying to create a single cad solution opposed to the double card like the GTX 295

It would be cheaper than duel so they could drop their price to compete.....

Single GPU to keep the power down......

Well If it's fake only time will tell.... but if you have seen the specs on the GTX 380 it plausible but who knows most of the time paper specs and real world performance are two very different things.

As I said in the GT300 thread, I don't think this is going to be a disaster for AMD. They will engage in a price war again or release something faster. If this slides are true, it's Nvidia the one that will have the advantage instead of AMD like in the previous generation, but it won't change things too much. It's agood thing for AMD that the company that competes is Nvidia: Nvidia will probably be happy leaving the performance/price evened out instead of pushing for lower price/performance than AMD, as AMD did with the HD48xx.

In the very worst case scenario, if they are not able to compete, they will not dissapear entirely, they would be bought, something that I don't see as too bad. I don't like how AMD has been doing bussiness lately (specially on the CPU front). Their IP would be better in some other's hands at this point, IMO, if only because of lack of money. And fanboys, please, don't kill me.

Lol we always see these type of leaked benchmarks that come from both sides of each GPU company and they make it out that their product is better, thats always going to happen, but to me, I do not believe this one bit. I've never trusted cheap company benchmarks like these, I mean I know these gpu's are goin to have crazy performance but seriously, a GTX360 beating a HD5970 in farcry 2, give me a break!

Farcry 2 is a Nvidia friendly game, so it could happen. This is all about speculation though, so come on share your thoughts based on the hypothesis presented in the OP. We want you in! :toast:

I think these benchmarks are fake, even if there were real i dont think that "ati's contention for top dog" would be over as they are "top dog" at the moment. Also I have read that ATI have somthing up there sleeve for when the 300's come out, the other thing we have to remember is ATI would now be alot closer to there next series of graphics cards and we still don't know when NV will even have there 300 series out.

thats not bad at all for ati in fact thats usually how it works between nvidia and ati ati releases something fast the nvidia beats it and ati drops prices so in the end ati still wins. why is this surprising to anyone?? either way the nvidia top dog gpu will probably cost about $200 more than the ati top dog thats usually the case guys

I really hope that those benches are true...If so it will hopefully lower the price of ATI's products which is a win for all. At the same time i heard that these new Nvidia cards are going to cost a butt load, GF100 has been rumored at around the $1000 mark. If this is true about these cards costing that much its still a win for ATI. Nvidia will once again have the fastest card for enthusiast but the money is in the mainstream market. All we can do is wait i know without a doubt i will be getting about 5870 when the prices go down.

Edit..Noticed these Benches were done at DX10...Id like to see some DiRT2 benches just to see how this card will do with DX11

Gonna go ahead and call this flat out BS, unless the 360 and 380 are dual GPU cards. I just can't see their lower scaled top end card beating out 2 down clocked 5870's, I would expect that from next gen. The 4870 was close to as powerful as a 3870x2, and the 5870 is close to as powerful as a 4870x2. The top entry card of each next gen is about as powerful as 2x GPU's of the previous gen.

With them being months behind, it would be nice for them to jump ahead like this, but honestly, they are most likely scrambling to get a card on the market that just compares with the 5870.

I think the numbers could be possible since its a new architecture like they did when they brought out the G80 but if the price rumors are true nvidia will be kicking themselves in the nuts.

not suprising at all, the question is will nvidia have good drivers on launch(which they won't), but I think it will be like the HD3870 vs 9800GTX all over again, AMD won't be able to catch up and will drop their prices.

but you have to understand dir d moving to a new architecture dosen't mean its gonna be faster, it gives more challenges and its going to need a ton of optimizing, even the current unified architecture took a long time to get optimized for nvidia(and I say its better on nvidia cards now)

all amd will do is drop their prices(took em long enough) like they always do

you also have to remember that nvidia and ATI's slides are always biased and never "ever" true.

I have to agree with you on that, I did notice right after launch the cards prices increased a little bit and it was strange, because they usually get cheaper right after launch not more expensive.

maybe its because they kept on selling out fast?

I heard that the new cards were going to be released in Q2 '10, a little late to gain any foothold before ATI supposedly releases the 6k series in Q4.

Dont forget to prepare your wallets of that is remotely true! Knowing nvidia, you ll have to sell an arm or a leg to buy such kinda card! Anyways whats the point of being faster? Actual cards aka 5000 series already max games on even 3 screens. Imagine someone buying that and playing it on 1024*768!

Well I have a couple of scenario's that I am worried about happening and I also could see this becoming great for ATI too. (If these are real)

The first Idea if this is real is that it might hurt ATI big time. Mainly because unlike the GTX 295 having to go to large double die card..... this GTX 380 would be able to beat ATI's top end with a single Die. Single Die equals lesser cost. Lesser cost means that Nvidia might be able to keep up with ATI if they start doping their prices to combat. So with that said ATI would have a problem pulling the same tactic they did with the 4800 series. I.E. dropping the price and enabling ATI buyers to buy 2 or 3 cards to make up for the difference.

Now the good scenario if these benches are true is as follows...... Nvidia probably won't release these cards till late Q1 if not Q2. If that happens maybe that is why they are making them so strong. ATI by that time will be hard at work with their 6800 series and they will be releasing them shortly after wards. By that time ATI could afford to drop the price way low and NVidia couldn't. Because the 5800 series would be older tech and Nvidia would still be trying to capitalize on their new cards. Then they would have a shit tone worth of money saved up from the 4800 series and the 5800 series to come back and try to blast Nvidia.

So in essence we might be seeing Nvidia trying to compete with the 6870 opposed to the 5870. That might be what Nvidia is planning for.

Competition is great!!! The reason I bring this up is I don't want to see any card maker be shoot down to the point of not being any real competition. If that were to happen on either side all that it would translate too is...... bad for us the consumer!

With that being said no I don't believe that these benches are real. Either they were made by a fan who wanted to start a rumor. Or they were made by Nvidia's PR people. Or for all we know they might be even doctored.

Nor do I think that a GTX 360 will be able to beat a 5970 by that much in Far Cry 2. While I do believe that it is Nvidia's goal to go to a cheaper single Die solution so that they can compete better with ATI. ( Considering they already have to have two chip's in a card because of Physx) And I also believe that ATI is going the route of making cheaper less powerful die but putting multiple on at a time to make performance. I think that situation will eventually happen..... Something like a 7870x4 vs. GTX 580 battle in the future.

I don't think we are there yet. I think these cards will be very powerful!! But I still think Nvidia will have to come up with A GX2 version to beat ATI.

I just hope to christ that if these specs are true it doesn't kill ATI...... In the market. Other wise it won't be long until we all pay $1200 bucks for a mainstream GPU per card.

You will see the 5800's come down after X-mas.... Right now they are the only option so they are saving up all the money they can get...... then you will see them come down even more after Femi is released. Who know's I'm hoping the 5970's will decrease after ATI release's a 5870x4 (5990) J/k but it would be awesome:)

Competition is good for us! I might as well wait a bit before I get one of the 5000 series, thats more than enough for me! Or maybe a gt3**, if it aint a thousand bucks!

It won;t be a $1000 dollars but with 50% larger Die and the fact that they added everything else they have into these cards. If the GTX380 is their Top of the line card and it really has these results I beat you will see them release for between $750 and $800 dollars. Shit for that you could Xfire a 5870 and probably beat it. By then you might even be able to afford to Tri fire a 5870 for that.

heck I'll wait for a dx11 card to hit the $200 (5850 or gt360) then! hopefully nvidia doesnt take too long to brin them out.

It's a new architecture, but even comparing it to there last line top dog, the 295, even the 360 is significantly more powerful. It is literally almost 2x the fps of a 285, architectures improve, but I don't think gains like that have ever been seen, especially from a company that is months behind its competitor.

The 3870's came out in mid 2007 and the 9800GTX came out in 2008. I guess they were competitors, but the 9800 was just another re branding with slightly better performance, the 8800 vs the 3870 was the competition.

I do agree there will be a price drop, once there is competition, that will be nice. But I expect a 5890 right when NV actually officially announces a release date, AMD/ATI have had months to prepare, I would assume they are ready to crash the party.

They are absolutely right in saying that a large amount of the graphics processors time is spent doing nothing.

However, I see the need for some sort of advancement with fans before we'll be able to let the graphics card do it's own thing.

These are hype Slides that are "leaked" from Nvidia is all, just like the slides from them during the Radeon 4830 fiasco.
