just reread his post, honestly, the teen club was started by me and pos just to see how many other teens where on tpu. erase the posts of all of us teens and zek, and then see whats left of this forum.

Beware of one thing, quantity does not equal quality ;)

Im only 28 and yet Im starting to feel like an old boy on TPU lol. More mods would be good, as long as it wasnt just to help split up petty childish rows!

plus I co-manage a large auto shop that has hot-tempered teens like many of you working there. [\QUOTE]

I work as a mechanic - being any type of management over a squad of mechanics is a really tough job, seeing as how our maturiy level tends to top out at age 4 :D

although - if any mods get replaced, those that are looking to move into mod status should be voted on, IMO, with the senior mods keeping tabs over it so it doesn't turn into a popularity contest.

The hiring of a mod should probablly be done off the forums as well. So, I really don't see the point of this thread to begin with.

*If not myself then Both d44ve and Hookey would make excellent mods!

I agree, since more mods could never be a disadvantage.
You seem to think like I used to...moderating is a ton of fun, you get to infract people with the enormous banstick, you get to change people avatars for giggles, and you get the respect and prestige of all.

Unfortunately, that's not quite how it works. I've noticed that as W1zzard appoints more moderators, we have to listen and co-ordinate with them all. Each person has a different way of dealing with other people, and that lack of synchronization can really be the difference between order and chaos on such a large board. And so, by adding more mods, you're really just starting a ticking time bomb for when one guy screws up and the others lose their cool...

I think we need to first work on making sure everyone knows what rules to follow, which are clearly outlined in the Forum Guidelines, which all the current moderators helped write. Then, we can work on getting more people to enforce them.
But I disagree with there being a distinct line between being a user and a mod. Mods arent robots, they're people, and Im pretty sure they arnt stupid enough to not act accordingly.
I honestly think some of you guys take mods for granted.

But yeah, more mods would be awesome. I always see Thermo doing a great job with his wicked mod powerz, but it would be good to see him get a break from covering all the threads he does lol

:toast: Toast to the moderators :toast:

Thanks... :D.

I'd offer to be a mod here, but unless others wanted me at that status, I feel I'm still waaayy too new to TPU to be a mod.

This is not all Panchoman, it's me too. I PMed Urylin about this same issue, before Pancho even came up with this idea.

I have been here for quite a while and I have made this argument before, especially in the overclocking and cooling sections. The mods that don't spend any time here, need to be replaced with someone that is here.

I don't care who, if it's me, Panchoman, PT, D44ve, TRT740, Linkin or anyone else, this situation needs to be fixed IMO.

The likes of Zek & Thermo (all I can think of atm, its late lol) are really good mods. But if they feel like they need help to control this rowdy lot, they should be able to ask. Then and only then should more mods be recruited......not because a
the 'newer' members would like more mods around to sort out 'domestics' :)

But on the other hand, a few more 'tech' guys that actually know what they are talking about would be nice to have around ;)

Also, I am not asking for new Super mods, or people with the total power, just new section mods, mainly so the super mods won't be bothered.

If you had a long running selection process, and a discussion with other mods regarding who could be a new moderator(s) then perhaps you could avoid such chaos. Further, some sort of 'probationary' position for new mods could ensure that the least amount of harm would occur, since new mods wouldnt have the power to screw around with other members (im under the impression that only supermods can ban and change avatars and moderate posts, correct?).

There are mods who are useful, and mods who aren't.

W1zzard can simply 86 the non-productive ones and replace them.

There are mods who I honestly don't think can put a sentence together, mods who interject biased and unprofessional comments into threads.

Then there are the majority of mods who are thoughtful, respectful of the other members and their right to discuss things, and are fair overall.

i agree with ya zek man, managing a forum of this magnitude is not easy, but its very fun as well, i've managed other forums before and i feel your pain about syncronizing, but its one quality that mods usually have, to get along with others. but to have such a big forum managed by 5-6 mods is requires a lot of dedicated from just one person, but having multiple mods, it makes it easier for the mods already there.

heres a good example of one thing that this petition covers that not many people have discussed: dippy is in the army. should he remain how he is on the forums, or should he have stepped down(retired mod) and let someone fill his shoes till he comes back? that is really what this petition was suppossed to be about, what about all the inactive mods that are here? how can we make it work for the inactive mods and active mods alike? how can we make it so that more mods can be added?

please note folks: i would love to be a mod, but no means does this have anything to do with that, this was one of my concerns about tpu, i told w1zz, and he asked me to make this thread.

What needs to be fixed? I think you and Pancho are blowing things up! Do you think that the Wizz doesn't know what needs to be done to his own site? I know I'd be insulted if I had people making petitions on how to run my website.

it wouldn't be right to just all of a sudden remove someone from their mod status because of situations beyond their control. I've known people in the military that get orders they're shipping out in 36 hrs. That doesn't give you much time to priorotize things at all . . .

unless it's for the good of the community, or the majority of the senior mods deem it necessary, an inactive mod should be contacted before being returned to 'general user' status.

I think that statement is the problem.......this whole thread seems like a 'panchoman 4 mod" rally (which I honestly dont think you meant to come across as)

But if it was, I dont think youve earned the right to be a TPU mod atm (sorry and I dont mean to offend you m8)

thermo himself says that he wouldn't mind extra help, and sure that the mods would be relieved of the amount of time that they are required to dedicate, because other mods are there to help out. zek, thermo, banjo, wazzle, these are the active mods i remember off the top of my head, these 4 people are really dedicated to the forums and spend long amounts of time on it trying to helpout. im sure that all 4 mods that i mentioned have lives and what not and cant manage the forum 24/7 and some extra help would be great. urlyin said that we cannot get mods cause apparently "the slots are full" and i was like... 3/4 of the mods that are filling up our slots hardly even post, let along mod the forums. and thats where the idea of this petition began. more then new mods, this is more about reorganizing the mod ranks and system. jc pointed out to me that the mods that are listed to mod the overclocking forum dont even overclock, whats up that?
