can you elaborate on that a little?
Well back in the early 939 days, AMD filed a lawsuit with Dell claiming they were basically accepting money from Intel to not use AMD processors. Their proof was at the time, there was only a few laptops with AMD processors, all entry level low end stuff. During the course of the suit, Dell negotiated a majority share buy out of Alienware (who really needed it due to several mishaps with their laptops overheating due to its design). While it is true this move could have been something Dell was working on before hand, this was the outcome.
At the time, Alienware always offered both an AMD and Intel option for all their desktops and I think their laptops as well. They also advertised the face they used AMD products. Once they were owned by Dell, AMD's lawsuit became moot because a part of Dell not only used AMD products, but bragged about it.
This situation did not stop AMD from filing other lawsuits against Dell and Intel for shady business practices, but I did not keep up with those so I don't know what happened between them after this incident.
I do know that Dell gets "assistance" from Intel and AMD is not financially able to do the same. This is why I want AMD to get to a point where they can pull an IBM and release vague, strangely cool commercials about how they are awesome. And if rumors help, go for it.
