Please don't spread misinformation... 70C for lga 1366 is considered very good. Also, the H60 is equivalent to good Aircooling, nothing more

Did not install windows in achdi mode, never done this. :ohwell:

Actually having pretty underwhelming results with regards to heat. Got a brand new H60 cooler and its pretty crap tbh. I don't know what im doing wrong, but i've got air pulling from the front of my 1200, while the heat sink of the H60 is attached behind the rear fans which are pushing air out (and the hot air from the heat sink). Sitting about 38*-40*c (in this COLD winter UK weather) and hitting around 60*C on load (like an hour of BF3) @ 1.176v/3.60ghz. Prime had it at 70*C @ 100% load.

These sound about right to you guys? Doesn't leave much room for more overclocking does it?

I know some people are saying pulling in from front and pulling in from the back and exhausting through the top can be good, i just don't see how it beats the tried and true method.

Have you checked if it's seated correctly and you don't have too much thermal paste?

mine only reaches 70C when i put it under occt cpu stress test, otherwise i idle at around 32C.

Room temp here is in the upper 20's and i'm running 4ghz 24/7 clock

You have lga 1366?

if not, you have to realize they are completely different chips than what you have

LGA 1366 can have 70C without a problem... 85C is not a problem either. I suggest you do some reading concerning the subject

I know, but idling at 40C seems a little high to me, especially when room temp is 20C.

Edit - And from reading around, at 3.6ghz with those volts and a low ambient temp you should really be looking at 30-35C with a good cooler and a correct amount of thermal paste applied.

people say they can run up to 85C but not many people recommend doing this.

edit 2 - Example

"I have a Asus P6t and a 920 i7 (overclocked to 3.2) 1.35v 160bclk 1604mhz mem

Room temp is 72 degrees F (which is 21c i think)

Idle temp 33

Load with prime blend mode tops out at 55c "

I have to agree tho, there is nothing wrong with 40C, i just think u can get better with a H60 and low ambient temp

40c is quiet normal in fact its quiet good for a h60 don't grab the fire extinguisher until 90c
the H60 while cool and all isnt really great cooler .. now something like the H100 is getting there but if you need to go that far then you might as well go whole hog and do a custom water loop ...

I don't mine my chip hitting 96C - 100C on Intel Burn Test as long as it stays around 85C in the maximum use I do

The previous owner of my chip was running my chip at 4.5Ghz... The chip was bought when the first i7 920 D0s came out. People have to understand that the LGA 1366 is a tough BEAST. It is the modern day processor that can take the most heat, it was built for it

Thanks guys, i was just expecting much better temps after forking out £60 for this 'cooler' that's producing roughly the same temps my STOCK intel fan was producing on default vaults. Expected better. I dunno. I'll overclock it a little further and come back with more results. I am only using the thermal paste that came already applied to the cooler. I also read new paste can take around 200 hours to sink in, which can shave off an extra 3-5*c?

I mean right now, idle, its about 35*C. Not THAT bad i guess. But after playing some then coming out, it idles at about 40*c. >_<
