Man is that norton I can see running in the backround.... You need to nuke that app right off your pc man and hell it might even fix your prob. :)

I have had many a bad experience with norton and wouldn't touch anything from them again..

+1 on this. Norton is nothing but trouble. Try either AVG or antivir (both free). If you feel the need to pay for an antivirus, try NOD32. It's the best there is for my money.

Agreed, I also want to throw Kaspersky AV into the mix, i just recently started using as part KIS7 and it found some things that AVG missed, though it's not a free program but comes with 30 day trial. Also, you might want to consider cutting down on the number of processes running, do you really need all that stuff running in the backround?

That would lead me to another question... seeing as some of the program names are a little cryptic, is there anybody who could help me by letting me know what i can shut down?

Probably half of the resources are Norton. Get rid of it!!! I highly recommend Avast and pickup some A-2 and spybot for spyware removal..great apps. Nice build(I'm jealous).

When i don't know about a process i usually google it, thats my fav way of finding out which program it belongs to and whether its essential or not. There are also programs that can help you terminate a process if you dont want it and they also provide info on them, utilities such what's running, security task manager and so on.

im running avg and kaspersky, avg is one of the best free ones, and if i had to pay for an antivirus i would go for kaspersky went with kas and never looked back, also the easiest and most fun way for me for finding out which programs work or not are just to terminate them and see what happens, its like a game of memory with unpredictable results.
note: don't use the muffin method if you don't like to constantly restart

that yellow shield icon in the bottom right is saying you have windows updates waiting to install or download and its probably what that open window is.

you dont right click on it but double left click on it and it should pop up on top of everything else, if not the close everything then click on it to open it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 545MB of ram being used on Vista, in fact, that's low. In case you didn't know, Vista caches parts of your most used programs to the ram, so that they launch faster. And it works, too. It's called Superfetch. When a program needs the memory, Vista releases it.
