What's the Fastest Card That Doesn't Need a Power Connector?

Need to upgrade a stock Dell for a friend (his HD 4670 just died). What's the fastest card that doesn't need a power connector?

The HD 5670?

I know there were also versions of the 9800GT and the HD 4850 released that didn't need power connectors, but I haven't been able to find them.

A 9800GT EE would be good, as would a GT240, HD5670, or GT430

Yeah, it's either a GT240 or a HD5670 now. (The GT 430 is underwhelming for the price!)

Unless I can find one of those mystical HD 4850 EE editions.

try gecube green edition its HD 4850 without power connector, or HD 5750 green its doesn't have any power connector too

That 5750 Green edition apparently runs so well from the reviews, I'm considering one for myself. Anyone got a purchase link for the Gecube 4850 edition?

It is not, however, the most cost effective card. The 9800GTEE can be had for $60-$70 typically when there is one on sale and it's just as fast as this card.

Okay, you've got a point. Trying to track down links for it and the 4850 green edition now. However, the 5750 is a bit faster than the 9800GT, though the 9800GT isn't slow by any means.

Just as fast? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that the GTS250 is about on par with a HD5750, and an underclocked 9800GT would be a good bit slower than a GTS250

don't they have gts 250 GE without 6pin? its performance is still good compare 5670.

That's definitely faster than a HD5670. The HD5670 is on par with a 9800GT EE. The GTS250 EE is probably on par with a HD5750

if i was you i will go for that HD 5750 green, its generate less heat and perform better that HD 4850 green. and it was newer tech so the driver will be improving

i don't have the link because i buy it in the store in here in indonesia, and i heard that gecube brand is dead right now, shame because i like gecube, they have very solid product and good customer support

EDIT : its actually faster than "normal" GTS 250

I don't think so, at least any I have seen required a 6 pin connection, even the green editions:

I have a GTS 250 E-Green edition, and it still has a 6-pin connector. So I think you're out of luck.

Thanks for that, the low-profile model is certainly listed as requiring no additional power connections, but when I check it out at my local shop (in Spain) it states that it does in fact require a 6-pin:

I'm wary about the data provided by Compusa.

as far as i know there are two models one with pcie connector while other does not. however i couldn't find the one with no pcie 6pin anymore. which only the 6pin left on stock and galaxy had already EOL on gts 250 sadly....the compsua may still have some and i guess the model is never being available outside us. best chance you get is contact them or go ebay.
