oh, well ... in the end it was smaller than the previous one ...

but, positive side ...

1. i can still fit a bit more in it ... 2. it will take a bit less space in my backpack :D

even without the protective case it's smaller ;) also lost my bet ... i will not be able to fit the FighingtBox in it :D (oh well ... i could seek an adequately sized neoprene sleeve for it ...

weather is getting warmer (not immediately ... still negative minima about till the end of the month of April it seems  )
ceramic/copper pads, should be fine (i obviously keep the sintered one aside for next winter, when i swap them ) and yeah ... ultra cheap one (about 10 time cheaper than the Sintered one) but good first impression and they have the locking split pin bundled with (the more expensive one did not ... and i had to order them separately  )

noname or brand? the noname i tried was returned as it didnt reach usb speed,
identical looking icybox or similar i have now (cant remember and its in the safe as backup of a backup)
works better and stayed cooler when transferring +50gb.

It's name brand (Sabrent) doubt it'll be a rocket ship, but worked just fine for the one drive I needed to clone so far.
Also realized I linked the wrong image too before, I have this one which is just for NVMe the other does that + SATA but is slower.

I really love Sabrent's products they are just too expensive here because I have to import them, because they ain't sold locally which is a shame they have good products even med 2TB Sabrent Rocket is a good solid drive.

I was even looking at their DDR5 they look like a good option but was too expensive compared to my current G.Skill kit :(

Sabrent are good and reliable products. In my actual Rig i have an Sabrent Rocket PCIe 4.0 Drive (1 TB) running nearby 24/7 since 4 years. I also own an USB-enclosure. There i have been a bit dissapointed. The wD-Black SM850x 2TB works fin in and with it. My 4TB Samsung 990 Pro has not been recognized by the enclosure electronics.

Regarding the ELUTENG in my previous post

It worked fine. I originally thought i was going to have to do a little back and fourth as the dock itself would show up as the storage drive instead of the SN770 (due to a requirement by WD saying that drives had to be physically installed before you could use the software) but the free Acronis for WD saw it and i was able to clone to it directly from Internal to USB.

Im still very suspicious if the cloning process was 100% successful (despite Acronis saying it was...) as it didnt at anytime ask for a restart to continue the process - Im used to it asking for a restart mid clone or to complete the process because some files/folders are in use by windows and Acronis doesnt have access to certain files or directories.

I'll know if it worked tomorrow when the 8GB stick of ram arrives and I can do all the upgrades all in one go while I have it open. I have a fresh stick of Arctic MX-4 so i could also do a thermal paste 'refresh' if i wanted to but current temps are perfectly fine.

::EDIT::

Reading about pump out on MX-4. Probably not the best idea putting it in a laptop.

I bought a LG v60 and a Fire 11/case/pen for my ma (Because I found them for under $100 and $70 respectfully).

It was just one of those moments where I couldn't stand her having a phone from the stone age any longer (the v60, if now 'eol', still isn't bad), and at that price I figured her tab was worth an upgrade too.

Anyone else relate to that? You ever buy stuff for friends/family because you just can't stand the things they have are so old that it drives you nuts when you know it's not that expensive for them to upgrade?

I don't know, maybe it's just me. It irks me when I know someone can have a tangibly better experience in their day-to-day life for very little money and they still have something really old and/or slow.

This one is not for mine, but my brother… a TUF 4070TiSuperSuperTi non-OC to upgrade from a 3070Ti which was unwittingly VRAM limited (on R6S + Bluestack, Bluestack will crash out very frequently on 3070Ti. Not on 4070TiSuper)
The TUF model here is priced surprisingly competitively (~USD$900 equiv ), barely above lower models like Ventus, hence the choice. OC model costs USD$50 more, so that’s a no go.
(4080 leftover is about USD$1100 here.)

Alongside is the latest MSI MPG 27” 1440p 360Hz QDOLED.
QDOLED let’s goooooo

Now he can do 360fps consistently on R6S with some help from DLSS. (He thinks DLSS Quality is better here, and I suck at shooters, he does shooters competitively, so who am I to judge)

Tried a few other games, and noticed on GT7 (with HDR) there are places that brightness/saturation drops significantly.
Maybe he needs a high brightness setting to start with ( on general usage the brightness is set to 80 ) and , well, the limiter is kinda low here.
I will see how his experience on OLED goes as I wait out for a 27” 4K high-refresh OLED product.

don't forget to update your TPU specs under your name!

Really awesome monitor, nice choice.

on-topic: my latest tech purchase is a MSI 180hz 23.8" IPS 1080p monitor, it was on sale for $99 at my local Microcenter, and I just wanted a backup monitor as my current 1440p monitor is sadly developing a lot of dead pixels after a few years of use... I didn't want to spend a lot, so this just happened to the right time at the right price kind of purchase as I await my dream OLED setup someday.

Actually, both things are for my brother, so ... no, I guess?
But it is a really really awesome monitor as long as the scene doesn't cause a drop the brightness / saturation.
And nowadays budget 24" 1080p IPS are great bang for the buck. Probably the first time I heard about such products dropping below USD$100 though.

If the current information / roadmap / rumour is accurate, I have to wait until 2025 for the dream OLED I really want (27" 4K QDOLED). The long wait continues...

Too bad the only parts are the ports, cardioid pattern switch, and gain/volume potentiometer. Someone used 1 Rossmann of flux and a heat station to literally wipe the board of anything that wouldn't be missed under external inspection (LED ring/board is missing too). At least I know the mic can be disassembled now.

Pierre Nakano x AVIOT True Wireless Earphones TE-BD21f-pnk Special Edition.

Found a company that sells used games and electronics from Japan and they happened to be running a free shipping special... So I went a little crazy. These were my most reasonable purchase, but also the highest risk?

They were listed as junk/damaged due to corrosion on the charging pads of the earphones themselves and the pins of the charging case (I suspected) keeping the right ear piece from charging. The USB-C charging cable and a couple pairs of ear tips were also missing, and the condition of the ear pieces, charging case, and box / carrying case were all listed as "difficult". Pictures were too small to make much out, but I took the chance...

At $36 shipped from Japan for a limited edition that normally sells here for $150+ used, why not? Reviews seemed good, and I went in knowing they would be bass heavy but not awkwardly so - Pierre Nakano is the drummer for the Japanese rock band Ling Tosite Sigure, and they've been active for 20 years, so... I figured he probably knew what he was doing. AVIOT is a Taiwanese design house and their average asking price for TWS, which seem to be their main focus, is around $300.

Thanks, Mr. Nakano, these little things are pretty amazing.

Are they going to touch my Empire Ears Legend X with the Topping D90 and A90, or even the G5 portable DAC amp? No... But they cost 1/12th what the less expensive of those two setups cost, MSRP to MSRP, and with that in mind assuming you like me enjoy a tastefully executed bass forward tuning (think a really, really high end in car system) or are willing to EQ they're incredible even at their $300 MSRP, nevermind less than $40 just in need of cleaning with some scratches.

Honestly, wow. 2 Balanced Armiture drivers and 1 dynamic (basic moving cone) per side, "bullet" style fit (more comfortable and secure than I would have imagined). That's nothing compared to high end wired IEMs - I have some with 10 drivers of various types per side) but it's impressive in a TWS, especially one this small. They do protrude from the ear a good bit. If you have larger ears you'll likely need larger than the included ear tips to get a comfortable, secure fit, but that's a minor issue.

The charging case is kinda cute, I like its weird little sliding door and the mechanism seems robust. I get the impression these were someone's every day carry; they weren't treated with any great kindness (hence the scratched off color on the right ear piece) but weren't abused. Workhorses that were replaced, likely with one of their various successors, and sold off once they were redundant. I'm happy to give them a new home.

Strong recommend if you're in the market for wireless IEMs in the $150-350 range. If you see them for much less, jump on it.

Well that happens, at least it wasn't an expensive drunk purchase. 'I assume, I've also bought a phone case recently'
Do you have an Asus TuF mouse/keyboard mat or whats that under it?

I might have some tech stuff to post here in a few weeks if everything goes well.:)

Excuse the dust on the carpet, but I just received my ordered iGrado mods. Basically this is China made Grado SR60 driver but they put it like clip ear a bit like KOSS KSC75 (but it was connected for both driver) except this mods put the driver back to Grado-style headphone. My headphone auditioning days is way back in early 2000 and I can't remember if I ever try Grado headphones so I can't compare. I thought this will be very bright like other Grado headphone but I was wrong. Surprisingly it's very warm and bass is very strong too, and none of the piercing high like I expected. Granted the driver is still new and I need to burn in before real listening but I'm surprised how it sounds. Not even bright at all. Perhaps the padding makes it sounds like so. Heck my Sennheiser HD595 is brighter than this! I'm going to burn in first before I made further impression. Oh wait this isn't Head-Fi  It's very light so its good for me to bring it with my laptop or listening to music while at work.

Attempt to buy cheap ram failed.

And im going with plan C given the choice of £40 for 16GB (Crucial) or £55 for 64GB. So we are going big or going home and home is where im at right now after today's bad customer service experience.

Going with the matched 16x2 set instead of a random 8GB crucial just incase there's any sort of compatibility issue. The spare will be given to my dad when does what i did and buys an ex-business laptop off ebay.

The sunglasses are there as part of an sunglasses combo deal. About £22 for two because I need some. One for walking the park and the other for cycling. Normally I'd wear a pair of Silium+ but the price of that one has roughly doubled.

(This laptop is honestly cursed)

same here ... but not a phone case ... seems i ordered some Moondrop Chu II (3.5mm) on AE without remembering it ...
20240417_203236.jpg20240417_203313.jpg20240417_203325.jpg
well i am not troubled ... nor it is a waste ... i wanted at least one Moondrop product since the first review for that brand from @VSG which iirc was the Kato IEMs in late 2021 :D

nonetheless i don't know if i should be impressed by the price, the build quality (heck the shells are full metal? with brass nozzle? wow...) or the sound (they sound quite good ... )
tbf for 20chf in Switzerland i get "budget Palpatine" earphone ... not good looking IEMs with decent cable and carry pouch ... (Palpatine is because they "bzzzssss, skrccchhhhh bzzzzscrshhhh" most of the time ... no, they don't yell "UNLIMITED POWEEEEERRRRRRRRR!" while doing so ... )

View attachment 338197

they arrived, without any tuning from the app they sound decent 7.5 out of 10, surprisingly airy in the vocals for only costing 23 bucks, good bass and soundstage too for being budget IEM, loses 1 point for making my ears hot... which is strange because IEM's usually never make my inner ears feel hot, this may be the first time I experienced that, loses another 1.5 points because sometimes it is not forgiving to bad recordings. my buddy that recommended them said they get even better when you tune with the app so we will see. but as of right now I can't find the app on the app store, so going to have to wait until I can talk to him again.

ten minutes watching Total Recall on Netflix: sound pretty amazing, but lacking some slam, but to be honest I doubt even 1 grand IEM's can give me the slam I desire during fight scenes, my 400w 2.1 speaker setup manages it, but nothing else has yet, so not a fair comparison. it is better than other IEM's I own and the difference is noticeable. DSP is a bit of a game changer me thinks.

Fit: 10/10 never had earbuds fit this well, ever. I am using my own tips, but even with these same tips my other IEM's don't fit as well, its strange, these are just really well designed. these block a lot of outside sound so I can't complain. just wish my ears didn't feel hot. might just be today, who knows

being type c based, they work instantly on my Chromebook, phone, and steam Deck. plug and play. no regrets on this purchase.

@VSG :rockout:

edit: I am kind of sad, cause Amazon shows it as coming in this box art with the panda, I'd rather have that box art. but I got the one above. oh well no big deal

View attachment 338200
well seems the DSP has the one you received ... and the panda box is for the 3.5mm from what i see ... also "i got the panda i got the panda nananana" ...
trade? i prefer your box ;) (joke, tho i will probably order a Chu II DSP later ... i want that box  )

edit: listening to "Enbu", "Kamiwaza" and "Kengamine" from "Tsugumomo" OST from Yasuharu Takanashi ... on Spotify with the DA06 DAC (Conexant 31993 chip) and the cheap Amp i got from AliExpress, BLOODY HELL! sound so good! (my KZ PR2 sound good too ... but the Chu II punch way above their pricetag!") also "Dark Schneider" from the OST of "Bastard!!" from the same artist, sound more punchy than on the PR2

almost make me wonder why i got a 150+ chf Fiio Q11 when a 20~ chf separate DAC/AMP pair do just as good, joking the Q11 is awesome and does not have hissing/floor noises(although the DA06/budget AMP only has it between tracks), nonetheless.
