Basically, as long as you can return the card to the way it came when you bought it, it is covered by the warranty.

So, basically, it is no different than all the other warranties. ;)

Its when you buy something, it says like "20$ mail in rebate" and once you get the product you send in the proof of purchase and wait a few months/years and boom you have 20$ in your mail.

Rebates basically act as an incentive for you to buy their product. The reason why it works for the company is cause the vast majority of people see the lower price, go "omg buy!", and never submit the rebate. It's another marketing technique

There is much more to it than that!

Example:
Lets say you see a video card from Manufacturer A (eg Nvidia brand) advertised for $250 at your local retailer.
Now lets say that the retailer paid their supplier $200 for each of those video cards, meaning they have $50 profit.
Then Manufacturer B (eg Ati brand) comes out with a video card that outperforms Manufacturer A's video card, but it retails for $200.

Manufacturer A then has a problem. It must reduce the retail pricing of their video card to remain competitive. It wants to reduce the price below $200 so that people will still buy it. Problem is, the retailer still has 3 dozen units sitting on the shelf which they've already paid for, at $200 a pop. The retailer sure doesn't want to be forced to sell them below their cost, as they wouldn't stay in business very long if they did that every time.

Enter the mail-in-rebate offered by manufacturer A. The card is still sold at a small profit by the retailer which keeps them happy, and a rebate is offered to the customer to keep them happy.

Without rebates, retailer's dealing with lower retail/cost pricing are forced to deal with things the hard way, with cost averaging, and all sorts of other stuff.
It is a little more complicated than that but I've best explained it without adding confusion.
I believe the UK markets operate in a different manner, I've never seen a mail-in-rebate offered in the UK.

Read the fine print at the bottom of the EVGA rebate. I believe it only allows one rebate(specific to that product/dollar amount) per household. It appears you can only collect on 1 rebate per session/item. It sucks, as I like to buy cards for folding 2-3 at a time:shadedshu.

Once I asked evga to send a replacement fan for a 9600gt and I had it at my doorstep free of charge within a week.

I dont think they would be greedy for money and waste 20e on posting + fan price for a guy that whines his fan is noisy.

Have it occured to you some dude at post office knows that ppl send over that kinda stuff to EVGA and has access to packages?
Removes some contents packs it again and voila "BLAME EVGA"

Correct, you can only claim the rebate on the same product once.

However, I get around this very easily. Usually, since I am buying online. If I want to buy two of the same card. I buy one and put the shipping address in my name at my work address. I buy a second one and put the shipping address in my girlfriends name at our home address. Then I fill out one rebate for me with my work address, and another rebate for my girlfriend with our home address. She cashes the check and gives me the money. If I need a third, I use a relative's name and address that lives near by.

That's awesome. I should do that. My sister lives in the same complex as I do.
