I own a GeCube x800GTO with a R430 core. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to get 16 pipes?

R430 is f*cked up core. Did anybody managed to OC it for more than 50 MHz? I mean stable OC without artifacts.

I have the very close Video Card here: Sapphire X800 GTO 256 AGP (400 / 490).

I think not many ppl bought this card cus his brother GTO2 . But still I would really like to mod it either way. My core shows a R430 with ID :554F on ATItool 2.4 (dont know if I should use 2.5 beta 8 ?)

At this point with the forced stock cooling i can OC to 440/540 until Artif.

Anyway I am thinking to pencil mod it since it has a simlar to excact likeness to X800XL. But did anyone did that? I want to gather more info on GTO R430 so my goal is to achieve(500/600) I dont know if I can do that but I just bought my 2b pencil too!

I want to try the bios thing too but I dont have pci v-card...

Everyone saying that Sapphire GTO1 is not moddable to 16 pipeline so I already forget it already. But I really want a 500hz core since my core temp is only 62 at load.

R430 core is a realy bad one for overclocking due to the non low-k manufacturing proces. If you want to make the Vmod, you have to buy a better cooling. And I am afraid that even with this you want be able to reach the 500 MHz :-( What about your fuses data, did you check it if it is possible to unlock pipes?
I haven't seen an unlockable R430 so far, but maybe it will come.

thank you for regarding my post. I am using my mutimeter to measuring voltage. If VGPU is lower than 1.5 then i will try some 1.5-1.6v.

my fuse: 0xA61

its different from the guy with orignal post. But as I see I should boot x800XL and try?

:respect: I will be the first human on moon if I can enable my Sapphire GTO1 R430 to 16 pipeline.

OK I just took 15 mins to do the Vmod. I dont care the VDD and VDDQ since my rem is running 1080 which is ok. The work done is easy consider I have a guide here. Only joined 2 point with 2B pencil and I got :

1.42v ->1.46v Vcore speed increase 5 mhz in ati tool lol

Yes, I may sound stupid but only a 2b pencil and a few scratch u have 5 mhz boost.... which is ok for me, provided I may still be able add some more conductivetvity on the two poles. But seriously with a 2B pencil u will have a hard time to only reduce the ohm in 12. I need to double it to maintain in 1.5v. OMG, may be I should go for some soldering which I hate the most. What is the risk to holding a 600c machine on your board? lol I dont like it....

Be careful with the Vmod not to go too high. I think 1.5 V should be the max. You are risking card damage when going over 1.5V. So can you get higher OC now?
And about the pipes. Post here your fuse data, the line with fff...

Hi there, I still working on the mod..One of the thing that I want to mention is even a 0.04v increase I kept my GTO at 60'c Max on need for speed new demo for 1 hour.
0xFFFFBFFF
0xFFFFFF9E
0xA61
0x12B84

is that mean that I can still pump the thing up? may be 1.55v.. I will try
I wanna ask is the heat damge the GPU or the MHZ? I think as long as I kept it under 65'c I can go everywhere in 1.5v-1.6v?

Thank you for regards..

Nice work. Stable temperatures should be under 80°C, but it depends. Don't go over 1.6V with the Vmod its dangerous. I am preparing my card for the Vmod too. I have X800np with the R430 core default (392, 700) max stable OC (417, 900). I have to buy multimeter, hope it wont be expensive :)
So good luck and tell me your max OC when you are done.

New updated: VMOD detail

I added more 0.04 volt so right now I have 1.499 V GPU and I stablely OC to 445 but @450will show 1 artifact once 3 mins in ATItool. I dont know i will go for VDD or not cus they need soldiering . Infact my core is running max at 64 'C now .It was 60'c b4 any mod.
The ATItool is my really helper cus it let me boost up my GPU fan to 90 %!

Dont buy a mutimeter if u not really think u gona use it for long. $25+ wont save u 100 mhz

My R430 core max temperature is 53 °C, but i cant get higher OC because of the VCore. How confusing. I must do something about this. I thought wheter it is possibled to add power connector to my card, because there are holes on PCB for this.

omg, your post is consider disencouraging:wtf:

If u got a $170 card, why brother to buy a $200?

:nutkick:

is this non sense, I need some positive informaion like anyone did flash it to X800XL AGP? To get any fps benefit?:pimp:

I am poor I know but I also being produtive here:D

YYKK: how big is your bios file? please
My X800np can not be flashed, because there is no bios of the same size :-(
I know just more 'n more negative info, but that is what is R430 about. Average performance, no pipe-unlocking, no overclocking. :-(

I love tweaking and overclocking. I still remember the days when is was oveclocking my Voodoo2 and Pentium 200 MMX :-D Thats why this card was such a big confusion for me. I expected that X800np is just some underclocked X800PRO, bulshit. Next time I should do more research before buying new GC.

I finally fine out the pencil mod really work after u stabilized the carbon. after all the vmod, vdd and vddq, my final clock is:
core 445.5
Ram 1121
20 mins atitool stressed@max 63'c Stable

45 MHz OC is very good work for R430. :respect: What was your max temp of core before Vmod? I must try the Vmod too.
