Just to double check - Are you saying I am able to record without the use of a camera or webcam? That last clip I did have the screen resolution at 800x600.

Yeah, should be able to. How did you do the original clip you posted?

Basically, you need a screen capture utility such as Fraps or similar, to record your desktop as you work on it. It should allow recording at a reduced frame rate, to reduce the final file size, which can be huge.

www.fraps.com This is mainly for capturing in-game footage, so I'm not sure if it will handle the desktop. If you have the Nero suite, that might also have a screen movie capture function.

Anyone else know of a good screen capture utility? A free one would be preferable.

What program do you use to record your desktop? That sounds ideal.

The original clip I did was with Windows Live moviemaker and it was just snapshots. The video part really helps others to see what I am doing if I get it right.

I use CamStudio, it has a bunch of options to adjust the framerate and screen size/capture size so when you upload it to youtube it doesn't look like crap.

You can use your native resolution, but set the recording window rather small, and set it to automatically follow your cursor.

Of course if you also set your capture reagion to 1280x720 you can enable the Youtube HD option, so people can select 720p on your videos and they will be really clear.

Oh, and CamStudo is free: http://camstudio.org/

Still not quiet right and a little too long...getting closer tho. It is in HD this time. :)

(Listen closely near the end of the video and you may hear me curse lol...I was trying to find something in the taskbar and blurted something out in frustration.)
