EA seem un interested in supporting the game... it's been a while since there was a new map or patch to get some new interest. That said, 1.5 patch inc new map is supposed to be released soon. I will give it a go and see if I am re enthused to play.

IMO nothing beats the multiplay and stats/awards system that EA built for BF2. I have owned the game for 2 years and up till quite recently it was my game of choice.

I began to hate the game after a few hours of online play. Slightly boring in my eyes.
 
never liked BF2, something about putting my crosshairs of my sniper rifle on a sitting still target and still missing at close range. You can have it. I'll take COD and Crysis over BF2 anyday
 
Its dead because there are better games with better graphics and gameplay.

It's sitting in my rucksack with the shrink rapping on still, not bothered installing it yet.
 
What happened to BF2 was BF BC. That game is far greater than any other war type shooter, I enjoy it a lot more than COD4. After you realize almost any wall can be destroyed and most things are destructible you fall in love and when you go to play something that doesn't have that feature and a sniper pops you head off when he peeks out a window, then you don't like it.
 
Unfortunately BF BC was not released on PC... and still waiting for BF3

EA stop supporting it also. Plus you guys are forgetting 2142. Which IMO sucked compared to BF2 but had a huge following. Anyway I want BF3 already but I think EA is up to something dirty. I think they are going to do the same thing they did with BF Heros. Pay to play weapons, clothes and stats. Greed will be the end of the BF series if this happens.

You are the first person I have heard say anything remotely like that. You must not remember the roots, BF2 was called 2 for a reason. Go back and play BF 1942 Desert Combat mod and you will see where BF BC multiplayer comes from. Open maps are where it's at, close quarters go play COD4.

But really BF2 shouldn't have had that name, it didn't play at all like DC and was a big disappointment to me. I had a bit of fun playing it, but it just wasn't the same.
 
Newer games didn't kill BF2. Hackers killed BF2. End of story.

As for the sniper rifle thing that BarbaricSoul mentioned, it's something gay in the code that makes your shot go WAY off if you're not using the scope.
 
One of my co-workers is still hooked on that game. Probably because he's still using a ATI9600XT/AMD Barton 3000+ combo.
 
When ever I try to play it i get killed by some vehicle/airplane/helicopter pussies that cant use a gun, or by a claymore with a 57 square mile blast radius, or just flat out spawn killed, when im not dying im usually roaming around the map looking for someone to shot at, for that I felt as though im wasting a player slot so I just quit, very boring game, and I tried very hard to like it.
 
I was about to get back into BF2, when FFOW came out with the extra maps, graphics upgrades, all those massive 1GB patches lol...they did an excellent job "upgrading" the game lol. It's a lot more fun than I remembered...FFoW is definately worth a look again, way more fun than 2142 which I also enjoyed.

I still have quite a few friends that frequent BF2 and one guy at work, that's all he plays on his rig, which I helped him build, e8400, BFG 780i, SLI 9600GT 512mb's, 4x1GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12. I told him he didn't need that much rig for it...lol.
 
I like and still play BF 2142. It's not the greatest game but it's still fun. Nothing like hanging out on the back of a Titan and waiting for enemies to try to land on it. FFoW is fun but the game crashes a lot for me.
 
If you liked BF, try SOF2. Still a big community. Lots of fun.

Damn right, protecting the Titan is damn fun, so is assaulting though!

FFoW is a whole lot better with the newer patches, at least to me...just got back into it a couple of weeks ago...with over 2GB worth of patching it's a LOT better imo.
