What DO they think there are doing creating 4 SKUs? "Superclocked" indeed!

No seriously, 2% overclock. This is just shameful. My opinion of EVGA just hit the rocks. It's dishonest to the consumer.

LET ME JUST REPEAT THAT

"Superclocked" = 2% overclock!!! This is just shameful. My opinion of EVGA just hit the rocks. It's dishonest to the consumer.

not so sure folks...

ok, obviously no one likes the idea of rebranding and rehashing same old same old technology...however, there is more to this story, check out the 1gb reviews of this card even compared to the big players of today...this is actually a very impressive card, it's much cheaper than a 9800gtx+..is shorter, uses less juice, and performs better and significantly better at high resolutions with the additional memory. Especially given the pretty modest pricing...this is truly the budget gamer's weapon of choice as I see it.

dalek are u serious

u sit here and tell me those are not the same 2 cards

its the same card its just the GTS250 is gonna have a price drop and even at that, if these 250's are gonna cost 150 when released its still not gonna be worth it because ATI already announced slashing their cards prices and the HD4850's are already in that range now, those are the true budget gamers cards now.

dead serious:)

The first mid-range offering of NVIDIA's GeForce 200 series is here, in the form of the GTS 250. As a follow-up to the company's 9800 GTX+, we already have a good idea of what to expect. But, various improvements aim to make things interesting, such as a redesigned PCB, smaller form-factor, single PCI-E connector, improved temperatures and refreshed pricing

that's straight from a review, and I read several others that all reiterate the same thing, so it is NOT the exact same card, and, if you look at power consumption in particular it uses significantly less than the gtx+ and even with price cuts the 4850 is around the same price and in many instances this card beats it, sometimes not, but many games it did get beaten fairly well. Trust me, I'd like to see something "new" but this is technically like the gts512 I have with a die shrink more than a gtx+, actually that's exactly what it is.

you can say that if you want in regaurds to nvidia's reference PCB, but in reguards to this EVGA model I have seen that the board ID of the GTS250 and the 9800GTX+ is the same(8823), meaning they use the same EXACT PCB, with a slightly higher binned core

I really tend to take a fancy to TPU's reviews and these words are from our wizzard himself
Overall my opinion is that the GeForce GTS 250 is mainly a renaming of an existing product to more properly reflect NVIDIA's naming scheme.

alot of reviews you see should not be trusted, because alot have a tendacy to be biased, some reviewers even get royaties based on their reviews,

What the hell does it matter if it's the same card? In the business. If you change ANY part of the product it must be announced etc. You guys act like this should have been their time to tape out the GT300 cards when they just made the 280s last summer. Freakin rabble rousers.

to be honest binge your right it dosen't matter if its the same card, if someone buys it and likes it good for them, I just want nvidia to make a new card though, I feel its time for something new to bridge the gap between the GTX260 and the GTX+

I mean I really wish instead of this they released a GTS250 based on the same core as the GTX260 but with about 160 Sp's, I wish it so bad

Hmm blatant rebadging... Should be illegal.

Anyone know if these will SLI with the 9800 GTX+?

Yes it will. It is the exact same card. ROFL. PS. Buy up all those 9800's off ebay, slap a 250 sticker on, and resell. People will think they are "newer". LOL

the thing about that is they cant do it at the same price, the G92b slots in perfectly and they get good yields, and can make then en masse for not nearly as much.

GT200 is a much bigger gpu to build for a start, then theres more power circuitry to accommodate, and also more memory with a fatter bus... the new 55nm pcb for a GTX260 already pushes the envelope on cutting costs across the board, id say even a worse binned core shipping with 168 or 144 shaders active, and maybe a rop partition or two and lowered speed would still cost them a good wack more than a G92b on a smaller pcb.

If the cheapest EVGA 250GTS is 149$ then they have a BIG PROBLEM , for that money you can get a HD4870 wich is much faster.

Cheapest 4870 on Newegg is $160 w/o free shipping, and it's a 512MB version
The cheapest 1GB version is $190 from newegg

A 9800GT/X can be had for $100-140, so that's @ least $20 than a 512MB 4870.

Rebranding may suck, but there's still plenty of "fast" cards @ "decent prices".

I got a GTX 260 for $165 on Ebay, after cashback it was $114. :rockout:

I don't see how a 9800GTX/GTX 250 can even beat a 512mb 4870?

If we talk newegg what you say is not corect.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161268
cheapest 4870 without rebates it is corect to be 159$ and with rebates it is 149$

cheapest 9800GTX+ is 144$ and with rebates goes as low as 124$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187052
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339

Cheapest 9800GTX+ with 1gb memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...PA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=9800GTX++1gb
goes from 174$ to 149$ with rebate

cheapest 4870 with 1gb memory goes for 189$ , no rebates here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&Description=4870 1gb&bop=And&Order=PRICE

GTS250 cards are not on newegg for sale and i doubt the 1gb version will be 149$ or lower.

As for what you got on ebay , that's a different story if we talk about second hand cards , if you got your GTX260 for 165$ on ebay imagine for how much can you get a 4870 if in stores now is 149$ as new untouched card.
