I had the idea for this thread a few minutes ago...
What do you want to see most from the gaming industry, plausible or not?
Hopefully some of the industry big-wigs will see this thread and at least consider some of these...
Enter as many as you like. Here are five of mine, in no particular order:
1) EA to stop being douchebags.
2) a PC Castlevania with online co-op.
3) Sega Dreamcast 2
4) SecuRom to be banished to the darkest pits of hell for the rest of eternity
5) the Sonic Team get their heads out of their asses and make a decent Sonic game, ala Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.

This. I loved Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.. That's like all I played when I was young :(

yep. they were the last two good Sonic games. after the fall of dreamcast, the sonic team apparently turned into a bunch of inbred, brainless monkeys.

1. Longer single player games and multiplayer included with all games.
2. DRM/SecureROM to go away
3. Great storylines to games
4. Better graphics and games optimized for all graphics hardware
5. A promise never to port anything from any game console. To write code meant for PC's.
6. Prompt adoption of DX11

all of those are good, especially #5.

I definitely want DX11 to be fully adopted. I'll have some HD 5000's in my hands as soon as they launch. Also Sonic Team needs to make their Sonic games on PC now because I don't have any consoles :p

there's always emulation.:toast:

4) SecuRom to be banished to the darkest pits of hell for the rest of eternity

SecuRom won't be around much longer, saddly that isn't really a good thing...

All I really want is for the install limits to be handled properly by doing the following:

A.) Set the limit to atleast 5, and have the limit reset every year. 5 installs in a year seems reasonable to me.
B.) Make it easy for the customer to call to have the install limit reset if needed.
C.) Remove the limit and all copy protection using a patch after sales numbers drop off(usually after a year, so if implemented the install limit would not need to be reset after a year as stated in A).

1. Securom to die and be banished from games.

2. Diablo 3 to be launched. I ache for that game night after night.

3. That install limit BS to be banished

4. CHEAPER GAMES.

5. Games that you can install everything onto your HDD then dont have to use the disc to play.

6. The HL series to continue

7. Banishment of console to PC ports.

Or maybe they should stop making consoles. They seem to be the root of our problems. We need a revolution! Consoles were fun while the PC platform was developing, but now it's large enough to where console gaming can become the minority, which would be awesome.. OK back to reality

Just imagine if every dev only made PC games.. We'd have a ton of Half-Life/Call of Duty quality games..

1. Don't bring out games that are half finished. Take your time and do it right
2. Refering to number one, I don't want to download 500mb patches anymore
3. No more install limits
4. Please no more games that force you to either be online or activate online to be fully able to play (except mmos of course)
5. Don't recycle the same story/setting over and over, use your brain to create something unique
6. Stop excessive motion blur

1) EA to stop being douchebags.
Yes i agree, even tho i am not sure what a douchebag is. But EA needs to go back to its roots and act like the past EA. The new one sucks.

3) Sega Dreamcast 2

You should go over to neo gaf forums and ask about that and see what i had to say about it ;)

4) SecuRom to be banished to the darkest pits of hell for the rest of eternity

Is securom the same thing as online activation?

5) the Sonic Team get their heads out of their asses and make a decent Sonic game, ala Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.

I disagree, all sonic games ever since genesis has been perfect IMO.

Anyways, to answer your question i want alot to happen within the gaming industry, too many too list thats for sure.

no securom is even more evil, it will block you if you play your game on too many pc's that you own and if you try to get help they will put you in the customer support circle of doom with people who barely speak your own language,

securom is pure evil made to destroy pc gaming

really? so you're telling me that sonic and the secret rings was good? what about sonic unleashed? sonic riders? all pure garbage. they need to stop theming it with bullshit ideas and remember what made sonic fun in the first place: the platforming at high speeds.
i'll admit sonic heroes wasn't that bad, but that's because they didn't stray too far from the sonic adventure games.

lol, don't even get me started on chao!
i love them!:rockout:

The Biggest thing I want to have done is the whole DRM on gaming.

To bring back...

Master Blaster! :rockout:

I'd like to see some of the better 8/16/32bit games coming back with nice new games. Rygar (in my eyes) was a great build on a old series..

More or longer levels.
Full game continuations (not having to start over, collecting weapons/stuff/etc).
Shorter load times between levels.
Options to skip "cut-scenes".
Ability to play Console games on PC without having to purchase different version.

and, Yes I agree...

#2 more than the rest though!

Sounds good.

+ Bring back sprite/2D RPGs!

definitely. the castlevanias and zeldas are still freaking awesome.
hell, even games like contra and bionic commando are still great.

mmm some contra! Metal slug! Even playing threw mega man 7 on ps2 was great! Mmm good stuff!

I have pretty much 70% of the sonic collection, so yea those games you mention i love. The last 2 sonic games i bought were sonic heros and sonic adventure dx for the pc. I am buying sonic riders and the rest in the future.

I want them to try no DRM for a year and see if sales decline during that period.

I also want to see new titles in the open-ended TPS/RPG and FPS/RPG genre.

1: Game installations to go back to 1-3GB
2: Smaller OS footprint on HDD/SSD
3: ALOT more physics in games
4: Code games for the newest API(DX10 they failed, DX11 i hope succeeds)
5: As said, make games right not rushed(KotOR 2 :()
6: More RTS's(though SC2 will satisfy me, SC still does :p)
7: A single player RPG with great storyline(KotOR, NWN2)

1. For companies to focus on minority groups too, like people who enjoy simulators such as myself
2. For companies to listen to the players
3. More games with cooperative play, or just same-screen multiplayer in general
4. Set their priorities right in game development, like focusing on more important factors first rather than doing the small stuff and running out of time for the big stuff
5. For companies to not say things they can't meet
