Depends. If its DDR2 RAM, you get some good RAM sticks dirt cheap. You just have to know what RAM your board takes.

yes. it's ddr2.

it depends if the laptop has 2x 512mb sticks of ram or 1x 1gb stick if its the 512mb sticks you have to buy 2x1gb sticks or a single 2gb stick and if its the 1gb stick you will need to get another 1gb stick

and remember if its a laptop it has to be ddr2 so-dimm or it wont fit

run a program called cpuz and it should tell you.

so i need to give dual 1gb and get 2*1 gb or keep those 1gb dual too?

cost of 1gb/1*2gb?

yea you have to remove the 2 x 512mb sticks as the laptop only has 2 slots

so i can upgrade upto maximum 2gb from 1gb? :(
any idea of cosT including replacing 2+512 or excluding it?

Thanks.

according to that u can install 4gb(2x2gb) but you'll only end up with 3.25gb. hum didn't find any good india sites, maybe someone else will.

They are probably right, 'cause I have 4 gigs in my wife's DV9005 and HP said max was 2 gigs. Works like a charm.:)

Just installed a Western Digital Scorpio Black 250gig 7200rpm drive and the wife wanted to know why it turns on faster...Hee Hee. Next, is the CPU upgrade! And, then 64 bit OS install.:)

ok. i'll upgrade to 3gb probably..if u know cost, plz post.

can i upgrade cpu and hdd too?

You probably have two slots in that laptop.
Right now with 1 gig - slot one has a 512meg and slot two has 512meg = 1 gig
You will want to go with either 1gig+1gig= 2gig or 2gig+2gig=4gig, so it will be in dual channel
It is a little quicker in dual channel.
Here is a pdf at HP to show how to do the replacement:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00829345.pdf

As far as the cost, check these, you will need two, keep that in mind(looks like they only sell them individually).

I have no information on these sellers, but it may give you idea of the cost, at least.
You may want to shop around to see if you can get a better deal.:)

what do u recommand me according to my notebook?

i should go for 2gb+1g or 1+1 or 2+2.

which will be better?

======
can i upgrade cpu and hdd too?

my general rule is 1gb of ram per cpu core so if you have a dual core 2gb should be fine.

Should i replace one 512 with 2gb or replace both 512 with 1gb, so total 2gb?

3 GB will give better performance according to my laptop specs as it's only 1.66 c2d. my hardware eng. adviced me that 2 gb will be ok, 3 gb wont make any difference on my laptop.

2GB Transcend DDR2 for 1450/- and 2GB ZION DDR2 for 1550/- INR.
Which one i should buy?
Both have 2-3yrs warranty.

Oh boy!! far away . let me check at nehru place . delhi how much they give ram for .
well what you think about 3 gb- 2gb +1gb will it work and show the full ram or there will be a problem ?? and then can I use a 64bit on that laptop?? please reply
I recenty extended my warranty for 1yr by payng rs.4600 . HP called me and said only selected customers are getting this .

I've bought transcend 2GB ddr2 ram for 1450/- INR.
Please check screenshot if it's ok.

yes everything is good to go. 2GB of dual channel, settings are the same as the SPD's so you are ready to enjoy your investment.
