I've noticed a lot of complaints online implying an increase in online cheating in games like COD4, COD:WAW, BF2, etc ever since school let out (presumably... I honestly don't know the last day of school in most countries, states, etc). So, I put it to a vote. Do you believe that cheating has increased online?

Younger people are more likely to cheat online, especially as most find it "funny" to inconvenience others. Whether it's increased or not I can't say, I tend to pick my servers, and the people I play with very carefully so I barely see any cheating.

Cheating is lame. Chances are your right in a way that there are more of them playing at times when they usually wouldn't.

It makes sense it it's true. All the kids that are like 12 to 16 think it's soo funny to mess around with other people's good time. Some adults use games as their release when they get home from work; the last thing they want is some punk kid ruining it for everyone.

Thus the conclusion is kill the cheaters.

Hm yeah, kill a guy who's lodged himself in a wall eh?

I haven't seen any on Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty games lately now that I think about it. I don't think you can really hack/cheat in an MMO game, but I haven't seen any on EverQuest 2 at all either.

I saw alot on COD:4 during my time playing, and I see the odd few on TF:2 - CS:S is a joke at times, being a server owner / admin makes spotting them very easy.

That said, I have yet to see a single L4D hacker.

I try & keep an eye out for cheating players. I mainly just play cod 4 & theres been the odd time i've come across a player who is obveusly cheatin some how.
Theres just no way its possible to get 200 kills & 7 deaths ! A while back a saw a player constantly getting that sort of kill rate !
Strangly he was running stait to me no matter where i hid.
That p*ssed me off to the extent i did a google search to see just wot cheats there are out there for cod 4.
Yeah as i thought theres loads ( Auto Aimbots, see through wall hacks, increased health ) & some even claim to be immune to punkbuster. Think most are server mods so its most likely the person hosting that game whos cheating.

Personly i would never cheat online it ruins it for everyone playing fair. & whats it matter if your not the top scorer anyway. Its just gaming after all.

Shame to all online cheats :shadedshu

I dont play online FPS anymore or FPS in general because at the end of the day, every FPS is the same and Im tired of it. The story lacks and the gameplay is just too short. Its one reason I like WoW so much. Sure things get tedious in the game but at least I can do other things to expand the gameplay.

Best bet would be for servers to start forcing players to use Xray - complete a scan prior to joining a server, anyone who fails the test gets banned for 'x' ammount of time.

sometimes i wish the cheaters pc blows up

Or pass a law saying that if you get caught, you will be castrated and humiliated in front of anyone who is watching it on TV. Or just decapitation :p

Constant rage quitting in L4D for sure.

The last time I remember offensively cheating was when I was... maybe 12? 13? running around with a bot in a Quake server, lol. I used to make hacked up system.mrs files for Gunz so that players could be immune to monster attacks in Quest mode, but nothing that could be used as a cheat in deathmatch, even though there were a lot of shady things I could have done...

Haven't seen many in Team Fortress 2, but in games like Counterstrike Source its a daily site.

Haven't played BF2 in a while so i am not sure if their on there.

In TF2 i have seen where some people use guns that aren't for the character, like i would see a Heavy holding a sniper rifle.

BF2 has to be one of the most cheated games ever

I wish parents would make their children play outside.

Yeah same I hate all those little pricks coming on and being immature just ruins the game.

i only seen one, and that was on a TF2 server. I play on there often and the guys that run it know it and made me an admin. So now i can ban those hackers...

if i ever see one.

On the server (the only server infact) that I play CS:S on, me and some other regulars noticed once a cheater/botter. He got owned by one of the servers bots..
Only time we laughed that loud was when I killed a guy with a smoke nade.

I havent noticed a increase lately.... I have a server for our clan on Americas Army 2.8.5
We run Anticheat scripts on our server to keep the cheaters out!!
You still get 1 now and then that hasnt been caught yet and added to the database!
We keep a eye out for them and turn in there screenshots to AON so they will be added to the list!
Heres a link to our forums where we caught a couple a while back.
I posted there screenshots so everyone could see what to look for.

I havn't noticed an increase in cheaters in L4D recently but i have seen a huge increase in the number of complete idiots playing in public games - you know, the guy who when he loads in No mercy onto the rooftop deliberately opens the door and then jumps over the edge of the roof to his death, or shoots his teammates and then jumps off the roof.

There's a definate link between school holidays and these idiots ruining good vs games, hopefully the unusually good summer we are having in the UK will draw them outside.

**edit**

although i have seen a certain hack in L4D recently where the opposing team gets a second tank as soon as their first tank is killed - only seen it a few times but it's getting more common now in the public games. Definately some sort of cheat as when my team plays through if we lose our first tank we don't get a second one...

yeah too bad there isn't a "idiot" radio button in the poll. I would hit it 10 times. the problem with source engine based games is the memory hooks are universal (counter-strike, team fortress 2, left 4 dead) and some of these are the most popular online games. I don't care about cheating in public servers since they are never balanced and that can't be avoided it's cheating in online leagues that pisses me off no honour at all i'll give you an example of having no honour when CAL was around counter-strike cheaters would go on eBay and pay top dollar for a 4, 5 digit steam id so it looks like they have been playing for years.

its more lag in my opinion lol
