This thing is a pain. It's one of those Store Brand Named Devices Ativa from Office Depot. I asked my grandpa to see if he had any Wireless Adapters and he gave me this Ativa Wireless-G USB Network Adapter and it's been a pain to install. idk if this thing requires the Software but i highly doubt it. the Model Site says it has Vista Drivers but they are in Beta Stage but i still tried to install them but for some reason the install wizard said they installed but there isn't any trace of any Files in the Main Folder in Program Files and the App. won't even start upon Start-Up.

Here's the things i've tried to do...

-Tried plugging it into different USB Ports (They should all work just fine) but still Fails to work as it should
-Tried installing JUST the Drivers and not the Software (No GO There!)
-Tried installing the Xp Drivers in Vista (No GO There!)
-Tried installing the Adapter in Xp Professional 64. The software installs but the Device isn't working. Gives Error Code 10 and for some reason recently a Yellow Sign in Device Manager with Device Titled... Bus Controller SM Bus Controller? wth has happened? (THIS ISSUE IS FIXED!!!)

Now trying to install that Bus Device with the ASRock CD i have which came with my Motherboard (FIXED!!!)

Edit: installing Windows Xp 32-Bit on my 40GB Failing HDD...
Edit2: Eh, i just found my grandpa's D-Link Wireless USB Adapter. It'll work with Vista for sure. I did actually get the Ativa Adapter to install by selecting option Disable driver signature enforcement upon before Boot :) but the sad thing is without choosing that option the Ativa Wireless Adapter is useless except in 32-Bit OSs

Those drivers are huge! Must be the software package they've bundled in with them... In any case, I'd do some research and see if you can't track down the OEM. Wouldn't be surprised if it was an old Ralink chip, in which case you can grab the OEM drivers off of their site which are much better and less buggy than what the manufacturer provides you with.

I have the same problem with Vista 64 and Win7 64. It says the drivers aren't "signed" therefore I can't install it.. Yet the drivers work fine on x86. WTH!

turn off driver signature enforcing or something like that.

Have you tried connecting to the internet through ethernet and letting windows install the drivers ? works for my usb buffalo wireless card in x64 thats the only way i can install it.

yeah man after booting with the Disable Driver Signature Enforcement the device installed fine and Windows Vista picked a better Driver and a one that worked within Normal Windows. i don't think though there are Drivers for the 64-Bit of Xp though, there isn't a Disable Driver Signature Enforcement option for that OS is there?

Yeah, the only way to get it to work would be to install it thru the ethernet , but I don't have access to a router. I'm using a neighbor's wifi. And I don't want to bug her with my computer issues. She's already letting me use her wifi.

I'll just stick with x86 for now.
