hi guys
my friend has a samsung smt220 22" lcd and when he had windows xp he had the correct resolution of 1680x1050 but now he has put vista ultimate 64bit on he cant get any higher than 1280x1024.
he has an xfx gtx260 graphics card with latest drivers so why wont it show up the 1680x1024 resolution ?

Sounds kinda strange...Only thing that should cause that would be a driver issue.
Try uninstalling old and reinstalling latest drivers>

well ive done that for him. ive seen this before but as soon as u load drivers in it solves the problem but not this time :(

the lcd has also drivers ...

ill refriase this, this is key ive seen it fix mutiple issues with drivers, uninstall drivers, restart into safe mode, run dirver sweeper, clean all old drivers, login it normal windows, run registry cleaners, good tool is ccleaner, then reinstall the mode up to date drivers.

i will give that a try marineborn

I had the exact monitor and a GTX 260 my problem is sometimes when I start or restart my PC it boots up to 1280x1024 or 800x600. Might be a buggy LCD driver? I think this started when I updated my driver to 185 but I recently reformat and installed the 190 driver same issue sometimes it boots up to different resolution

Most of the time when your PC boots into a different res. than what you have it set at.
Thats a sign of a unstable overclock or driver problem.

it is the refresh rate,it think! try lowering it and try the 1680x1050 reso

I have a similar problem with my T220, when connected through VGA (as DVI doesn't work for me) it shows the highest resolution as 1360x1024. the way i solved this was to force it in CCC to 1920x1080 res then it finally worked with 1680x1080, will most likely have to do this with each driver install but atleast it works that way.

If your friend does not have a DVI connector installed on that monitor, you have a VGA connection in which has enough bandwidth to deal with 1280 x 1024 but can't go any higher. It also could be a driver or BIOS issue, but to start the problem solving the easy first check for a VGA connector, DVI connecters are white while VGA is blue.

vga connector has enough bandwidth to deal higher resolution-is not limited !!

the pro must be driver issue try to force the resolution in nvidia control panel

I don't have the problem when I was using 9600GT but that has been OC'ed too. it's not that annoying it aint always booting at diff reso I think it is often occur when I play low resolution games like Warcraft which is 1280x1024 and sometimes when the display driver stopped responding pops up then I restart my PC it does occur sometime

ive not been round there yet to try anything new but its connected via dvi not vga cos vga sux.

My T240 did not give me any resolution issues except for the color profile. Samsung's Drivers has faulty a color profile that made pictures yellowish. Photoshop gave me an error at startup for the color profile too. I had to use a modded color profile to fix it.
