Price is not an issue? There are several coolers that perform very closely to each other...hard to decide which is best. Xigmatek S1283, Zalman CNPS 9900 and 10X Extreme, Thermalright 120, Tuniq Tower, Notctua NH-U12P...I could go on. Is the V8 not satisfying you?

Well I would say anything under $200 is ok.

All of those are under $100. If you're looking to spend $200 on cooling I'd say go with something more along the lines of liquid...

You already have a V8.. You're not going to get much better unless you go liquid.

i'm kind of scared of going liquid and don't know anything about it. Which cpu air cooler would give me lower temps than my Coolermaster V8?

All "high end" air coolers usually only differ by a few degrees anyway, unless something is fishy. What kind of temps are you getting now? They can't be too bad if you're running at 3.8 GHz.

If you're not getting good temps with your V8, then you've probably got bad case airflow or the ambient temps are really high.

My cpu is at 38-42 idle but just wanted to see if theres a better air cooler that will give me lower temps than my coolermaster v8.

Idle temps don't really matter, what kind of numbers are you talking about for load?

+1 To get better clock on the 955 24/7 you will need liquid, amd chips dont get that hot but have 45c threshold at least for me in games

with prime95 and occt full load my highest temps are 50-55c. I really don't like it going to 55c on full load since it's close to the max 62c.

When I was benching at 3.8 my temps sat around 52*C and I have the same cooler as you do now. What kind of TIM did you use? How is the air flow in your case?
