The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Lenovo and IBM, today announced a voluntary recall of the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers, manufactured by Sony and distributed by Lenovo. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately and contact Lenovo to receive a replacement battery, free-of-charge unless otherwise instructed. These lithium-ion batteries can cause overheating, posing a fire hazard to consumers. Affected models are the following ThinkPad notebook computers: T Series (T43, T43p, T60); R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e); and X Series (X60, X60s).
