I understand being disappointed in that card to an extent. Most who read this board are dying to see how well nvidia will compete with the 5 series.

What I don't understand is the rabid attacks on nvidia because they've not yet dished out the product. I'm sure they're trying as hard as they can to get back their slice of the pie. Some of the people posting here are talking about nvidia like she's an ex girlfriend they're pissed at.

The good stuff will come.

thats not the point. the point is they are rebranding old cards to start the series. The reason thats rediculous? GT300 was supposed to be DX11, it was supposed to be uuber fast, it was supposed to wow. but can we pull from this news?

1. they are going to do rediculous rebranding...*sigh* again....
2. since they have decided DX10 is good enough for GT300 their DX11 flagships will probably be more of a premium than we thought.
3. they are probably going to sandbag wicked hardcore again. which is going to mean that their is probably going to be like 6 million GT300 products....awesome.

if GT300 was my GF?...i would totally break up with her.....over text.

I simply don't understand the emotion. Nvidia rebranded a low end card before they released their good stuff. Big whoopety do, why care? Like I said before the good stuff is coming, I highly doubt they're holding off on 300 when they could be selling the crap out of them for this holiday season if they were ready.

LOL at this pic. Take note that the 310 has the missing "compare and buy" button.

The renaming is a by-product, and really done to eliminate confusion by creating a unified naming scheme.

Sure..
nVidia's renaming isn't a scheme to fool customers at all, it's just a honest way to "eliminate confusion".

Sometimes I wonder if those forum users paid by nVidia to make "friendly comments" about its products are still around.

Because, it was the 40nm, and support DX10.1, and it was GeForce 200 series, there were something new about it.

I thought GeForce 300 series supposed to be support DX11. I have been using NVIDIA for years, this is just.... disappointed.

wow this is just completely terrible, nvidia did rename alot of cards but this is worst than renaming this is just . . . . . wrong, its wrong, all they wanna do with a card like this is rip people off, thats the only reason I can see a reason for this.

I truly truly expected every 300 series card to be DX11 and now look

this only means one thing to me, Nvidia is gonna start a new rebrand spree and have no entry or mid range more than likely only highend and enthusiast cards.

(Every PC needs good graphics.)

I think, actually, this will start to become their strategy. Using cards from the previous generation to fill the lower and mid-range of the new generation. In a time where profits are down, this isn't a bad idea, and I actually don't know why the video card manufacturers haven't started doing it sooner.

It saves on the costs to have to tape out a new core just to get something that is almost identical to something that already exists.

The renaming is a by-product, and really done to eliminate confusion by creating a unified naming scheme. Granted, I think their renames are kind of shitty. Like renaming a 8800GT to 9800GT, when they are identical. I would have preferred 9700GT perhaps, or 9600GTX maybe. But then again, I would have done the entire naming scheme differently starting with the original release of G92. I think nVidia is still trying to figure out how to handle the new strategy properly in terms of naming, I can't say they've done it right so far for the most part but they've done it right a few time, but I think a lot of poeple are too quick to jump on them and cry foul when it isn't necessary.

IF nvdia really honest want to eliminate confusion, then they should be done with it when they release 210, and maybe the reason why they renaming a month old card, because they want to scam people in this holiday season

and to be precise ATI never rename their product with THE SAME feature, even onboard IGP 4200 have more feature than 3200, like DX 10.1, a new UVD,(beside it have identical core design)

also the G210 and the G310 both use DDR2 making them the same exact card(as far as the specs and pic by nvidia go)

Reaching your left retina.
Same as a 210, look at the Crysis chart. 1280X1024

The vote is in, and every 785 board I have built on has reached 800+Mhz on the graphics core.

This card=FAIL.

I don't want to enter a discussion, because I don't think this card is any good, but this card is faster than the HD4200 and you have the proof in the TomsHardware link you posted. This card has the same specs as the 9400 (except this one has higher clocks and DX10.1) that you see there amply outperforming the HD4200.

It doesn't matter anyway, this is a card for OEMs and OEMs actually want this kind of shitty cheap cards. They like IGPs probably more, but with Intel banning Nvidia from making chipsets, this is the only option they have if they want some decent graphics on the cheap.
