U.S. Airways Smashes Xbox 360 for Security Reasons

airlines smash alot of things for no reasons I remember like last month a woman traveled to some middle east country and they took her macbook and smashed it up for fun, this kind of thing happens all the time really, . . . . . . hell he might of did it himself to get a new 360

I would of kicked up a shit storm if this happened to me.

And made them pay for it.

Regardless of security reasons, if the item was NOT a security risk in reality they have to pay for it.

as you can see, that all the internals are gone, as in someone smashed and stripped it out, now there is a security guard with a new xbox and a guy with a busted case :shadedshu :shadedshu SUE THEM!

He will get it replaced. All he has to do is bring up a complaint with the TSA. If they broke it for security reasons, TSA will have to investigate it to determine why the airline thought it was a threat and TSA did not. If TSA determines it was not a threat, US Airways will be levied to replace the console at current market value to be determined by a 3rd party.

Thats how it goes.

+1 , he is defending someone, that litteraly looked like they had to open the bag, and smash that sucker to bits and peaces.

Also that was clearly smashed with something, Ive messed with 360's and modded them and i know alot of people here have also and we all know how tuff a xbox 360 really is. What ever bent that 360 like that was no smash. It looks like someone deliberatly smashed it with a night stick as hard as the might of there arm could swing. Bull shit right there.

When i grind on the blastic of 360's its pretty hard to budge the white plastice casing alone, THEN there is a think steel sheat for garding, then the solid steal cage which is hard as hell to rip/cut.

This thing was mutalated without being scanned, Sad sad sad........ I know these airline companys have to have these xray scanners, that can litteraly see threw metal, and diffrent levels into a object.

I call herisy on that destruction of a 360.


***Also just a note white lotus, if they go and smash 360's like that, what other delicate items could be smashed, laptops, glasses, cherished items, Phones, Monitors, Random other things.

Were would you put a xbox 360 anyway? I would only put it in the lugage.

You should be able to place an item in the hold without fear of it being damaged, your not only paying for your seat you pay for a luggage allowance too.

that sucks i saw a girl take a whole set of golf clubs to a 360 and it still didnt even look like that it didnt even crack the hdd got busted up but thats all. must have had a axe to it or something

There is a general understood rule that most people that travel often know. If it is electronic, and it doesn't power on by itself(i.e. it runs off it's own internal battery), don't check it and instead carry it on.

The reason being that you can hide anything you want inside of them, and they look instantly suspicious when they go through a baggage screener. Sometime you get lucky and it goes through just fine, and sometimes you get the over protective baggage screener. If they flag it, and it doesn't turn on by itself, they will break it open to see what is inside.

If you carry it on, and it is flagged, they will escort you to a place to plug it in and prove that it works. You will probably piss off a lot of people because you will hold up the line at the security check-point, but at least your item will make it safe.

Or better yet, ship it to yourself, at least then you will have insurance on it if something happens to it in transit.

totally out of order. You pay for your stuff to get to the other side safely. My mother goes though it every year when she comes over it's not just electronic it's near any thing that gets wrecked.

Most of the stuff that gets broken is like if a 12 yo been at it for a sad joke.

Yeah I saw that, they shot heir MacBook 3 times because they thought there was a bomb in it. Not the brightest bunch if you ask me.

back in 2006 I sent my laptop with battery removed through the carry-on screener, they then told me to put the battery in and turn it on, well that was the end of that after, no problems whatsoever. I have that same laptop to this day, it is going to be 6 years ago i got it as a Christmas Gift.

I Believe you have to claim other Items in the bag that look like large boxes though, just tell them you have a XBOX or laptop in there with battery removed. I Dont think they would care if there is a gun in there or not, if another large device is in there they will question it. In all cases id take the Xbox, power adapter and the cables required for it, and tell them that there is a video game console in there with the applicable cables for use in it. Or just pack the game console in a backpack as my carry-on

Priceless musical instruments, necessary medications, other expensive items an Xbox360 is nothing compared to stuff that gets ruined by air travel.
