ATI Catalyst 10.3b Preview

Yes try running it again and choose custom and make sure it is checked.

Ive tried installing the new 10.3 twice already and it goes through the whole process and reboots and after that it says that there is no drivers installed etc.. so i had to go back to the 10.3a previews and the loaded perfect

Thanks.

I had always been doing the express install before
:o

Let me know if it works for you.

I never do the express, always do custom, because I un-check the registration box in the release versions and any trial software loads.

I was always useing the express method, i will try custom and see how it goes

Yes it worked, thanks again 95Viper.

With Express I was unknowingly not installing the Control Centre at all, thinking it would be installed automatically...

Choosing Custom I selected the box to install it and it's fine now.

As general feedback, I ran Unigine V2 using same settings as the 10.3a driver (1280x1024, 4xAA, 8xAF and tessellation extreme) but I got no improvement - just the same score of 910.

i hope this works for me i have flicker on desktop and Really bad flicker in bad company 2.
If this doesnt work the card is going back for RMA on monday.

I made a clip, let me know what you think. BTW i swore half way through the vid just so ya know :)

You made a comment about it getting worse well to me that makes me think some things overheating on the video card. I cannot see why the drivers would get worse although not saying the drivers are no part of the issue.

This post reads as " I didn't read the thread"

problems been sorted now dude, it was drivers everything fine and dandy now :toast:

I tried the 10.3b drivers. Unfortunately, it does not play nice with Afterburner when my 5850's are in crossfire. I get a hard lock and BSOD any time I try to change clocks. So, it's back to 10.1 for me.

Get the 10.3B b/c the 10.3b fixes issues associated with BFBC2 and some other minor bugs. As for 2033, there hasn't been really any issues that I know of. It must be your old drivers

thanks,i will try them.:toast:

Hmm...here and there I still get flickering problems in BFBC2, usually when it changes maps...Anybody else having this problem still? It wasn't as bad at 10.3a...I'm running 5850 crossfire?

-My card's aren't overheating because I have the fan set at 45% and after hours of play I usually get 59c

the 10.3b drivers seem to work just fine.. i still get some crashes and grey screens in games.. but i think my card is asking for an rma to be honest.. i'm waiting till my new5870's come in to send it back and get a new one.

i cant say anything but good things about these drivers, i couldnt overclock 1mhz without my system failing or huge screen flicker. Now im at 950/1250 stable in all my games. Really happy with them.

Both of my cards do this if I adjust ANYTHING from stock, clocks-wise, up or down. Stock clocks are 875/1300.

So, I flashed to the ASUS bios...

Guess what, if clocks go anywhere up or down from the stock ASUS settings of 850/1200, same issue, even the 875/1300 clocks that are fine on the XFX bios. CCC is causing issues somehow...haven't had a chance to try installing the driver without CCC yet. Needless to say, the XFX bios is back on my cards. Tried Sapphire and Powercolor bioses too, same issue...nevermind that just "unlocking" overdrive via CCC results in lower performance, by about 10%. 10.3b didn't fix it for me. But I guess you are only using one monitor...

Yep, 5870 Crossfire, still lots of flicker. 10.2 has no flicker, but crashes, 10.3a has minor flicker in areas with specific lighting, 10.3 official has flicker about 35% of the time as well as crashes (crashes also in singleplayer), 10.3b has flicker 60% of the time.

GPU temps are high here, max 90c on both cores in-game, but VRMs don't break 70c.

Turning off AA made it better for a bit, but when I restarted the app, the flicker came back, so something is still wrong with the game or driver.

That's odd, is your fan's set to automatic or manual????

I haven't got any crashes yet, some FPS improvement, but I'm asking myself is it worth it or should I go back to 10.2..?:shadedshu:shadedshu:shadedshu

cadave' what are your ambient temperatures man? that's pretty damn toasty!

I was getting around 89-90c after hours of play, but I boosted my fan speed manually and I haven't reached 70c :-P , 45% is the best for me, not too loud not too quiet. 100% Sounds like a jet in my living room lol

Fans are on auto.

It's just the one game with issues here, and desktop 3D, when trying to overclock the cards, for me. I leave them at stock, leave CCC Overdrive "locked", and I get almost the exact same performance as upping gpu to 950mhz with CCC unlocked, so I haven't even bothered overclocking anything, so if anything is wrong, it's either our cards, or the drivers. I'm more prone to beleive it's a driver issue, given our different configs, and same behavior.

I just keep reporting issues via Catalyst feedback, as I have been for the past few months. If Thuban and CrossHair4 come out, and it's not fixed by then, I'll RMA, but one app is hardly enough just yet.

Currently 8c. PC is sitting in the open window. Cards SCREAM with noise.

Elevation is like 2200Ft here..even batteries here don't work like they do further south. Batteries for my daughter's hearing aid only last 5 days in comaprison to 8, depending on where they were bought. Figure that one out.

My current drivers of choice are 10.3a's with no CrossFire profile installed. The profile seems to screw things up since I have no problems without it.
