Finally biting the bullet! Advice needed though

Looks good. I wouldn't use the ECO for i7...not worth the cost. TRUE performs better, but with more noise, so...ECO at decent volumes isn't much better than a TRUE with a slow fan.

If it was AMD, sure, but i7 is beastly in the heat department.

Maybe some of the i7 users can chime in....they'd know better than I. It's just that $70 is alot for a heatsink, so it's omportant you get the most you can for your dollar.

orly? :p I'll do some research then

How about a Scythe Mugen 2 Rev.B for <40$ after tax? : http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14110AC6165

I know I keep throwing overpriced suggestion in the conversation but have you considered the H50? With push/pull fans you can get 4Ghz to keep cool enough. This is assuming you won't keep your system in direct sunlight in the Montreal heat.

If configured correctly, I've had the best results from a Megahalems with Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1450 fans in push/pull. Now, the H50 and Eco may show similar temps, but at this price point I prefer the simplicity of air, and I really dislike the mounting system on the H50.

Megahelms are not available to me and I thought the ECO > H50? Scythe Mugen 2 rev.B seems like a nice alternative for a cheap price.

get that case, i have the basic version and its a beast

I'm not sure I want to pay 80-90$ for the case... I'll stick with the Lian-Li Lancool K58WB, though I would have preferred a non-window for this type of case, I'll live with it... I'll add a DVD burner to this lot... then I'll find a way to make a cheapervariant and choose which one of the 2 I'll get

i would go for a reference card cause i dont think that PCS+ will allow voltage increase

As I said before, I don't want to spend too much more on it (next cheapest is like 330$), and the PCS+ is the cheapest. besides, I am not going to OC it over stock voltages, even if I could. :p

Don't worry, I rarely read the WHOLE thread before I post lol

I thought that the Scythe Mugen 2 was better?

I thought that the Scythe Mugen 2 was better?

It's pretty close from what I can see but the review I found didnt really say if the Zalman's fan was running on high. If you strap another fan on the Mugen 2 it will likely be even better but probably much louder.

I'll stick with the Scythe Mugen 2 then... Everyone like the K58WB right? I can't find a better case at this price range... If I want cheaper, there is the Antec 300, but it has way less features for only 11$ cheaper, so I'll stick with the K58WB

What do you guys think of the ASUS VH222H? any other alternatives at directcanada.com or ncix.com or newegg.ca? How about that mouse? Anything better for the same cheap price range?

Finally, the PSU + 5850, I could downgrade to a EA650 + 5770 1gb Powercolor or for 20$ more, XFX.... 180$ cheaper with powercolor or ~160$ with XFX... I still think I'll stick with the 5850 though

That means that I'm pretty sure this is my final thing...
