I would say thats an upgrade for you if you are a gamer. Straight trade would be to your advantage.

Thanks. Maybe later drop it another 4870 in crossfire.

Sounds like the 4870 is slightly better than the 9800GTX:

Just remember some of those 4870's ran really really hot, like 100C at load. Most 9k series dont run that hot(except 9800GX2).

Edit, yeah since your board supports CrossFire then it is to your advantage.

4870 is about as fast as a GTX260 asfaik and it doesn't run that hot but they can get quite toasty.

Ya go for it!! 4870 is STILL a very capable card IMO. I see u got a GB board, I found i could squeeze 300-400mhz just by upping FSB. Just make sure u got the latest BIOS as the early ones were crap for my board...

oh, I thought he was trading in his card to retailer and buying a new one, yea 4870 is pretty good for a straight across exchange.

I would say go for it... Looks like that puppy has got some juice with alot of Vitamin GAMER! :rockout:

not to mention the 48X0's oc much better to only differnece is ati cannot do gpu-grid and they fold like garbage. of you dont intent on doing either of those things I say go for it.

Not really, the 4870 OCs are pretty bad on average.

lol @ signature!

the 4870 is going to out perform your 9800GTX

I've gone ATI to Nvidia and back again, and never reformatted. Just uninstall the drivers, maybe even use driver sweep, and you will be fine 99% of the time.
